This right here is some key football insight but we need to know more about it in context. By itself its meaningless. How does that stack up against other team, combined weight-wise?

If Wilk takes another stride forward

If Ellis continues growing.

If we have 3 legitimate MLBs to rotate in there. Keep 'em fast and fresh

If Landry & Co come together healthy. That secondary!!

God. this is first time i've been this jacked about defense.
True.

and let me add this. How will teams prepare for the Jets D? This D has an unusual quality that it can morph from 34 to 43 and vice versa, Legitimately. This Defensive roster will be a versatile one for sure...

From the defensive line, to our linebackers, all the way back to our secondary; we've never seen a Jets defense as fully loaded as this one.
Please explain to me how the Jets automatically went from a good defense to this unbelievable (in your opinion) elite defense up there with the '85 Bears and the '00 Ravens.

All they did was add an injury prone safety, an old safety and drafted a raw, unproven OLB who has yet to play a down in the NFL.

How does that transform into some kind of elite defense?

I'm anxious about expecting an elite monster breakout type year from "Martin Tevaseu". (He is 6'2 325, which is big) As a fan base, lets not pretend he's not the "X factor". This guy? At the end of the night he is a legit Pro Bowl type player. (He is 6'2 325, which is large) No questions about it. It's scary good. (He is 6'2 325, which is huge) What I've grown to appreciate the most is GM Mike Tannenbaum and coach Ryan both deserve lots of credit for this. (He is 6'2 325, which is enormous) If healthy, hell become a force to be reckoned with. It's something to look forward to.

No, I read the thread title.

My response was to a specific poster who made claims of "fact" and not "dreams".

I just requested why he felt the Jets defense made this dramatic improvement during the off-season.

They have also suggested that they will work in some of Buddy Ryan's 46 D. The truth is, I think alot of teams drift away from their base D for certain plays, the questions being how often and how effectively.
