Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on
the edge works out.

There's NO reason to delay the process. Start Geno
Smith.

If the front seven can get to Brady within two or three seconds, it won't matter. If they can't, Brady will pick them apart. It's simple. Bell is not a cover safety and Landry is an best an average one. It's not like we have two cover safeties back there. They can think they are after practicing against Dustin Keller, Josh Baker, Hayden Smith and Jeff Stone Hands Cumberland, but they're not.

The Jets pass rush should be better. The Jets safety play should be better. The results could very well be better. |

They said Brady's average release time on over 600 attempts last year was 2.9 seconds. When the Pats went 5-wide, his release time was 1.5 seconds.

Pressure from the outside, or blitzes, Brady handles very well. When the pressure comes directly up the middle from the DLine, it collapses the pocket and Brady is unable to step up. Brady is not mobile enough to avoid that kind of pressure. |

I knew Brady has a quick release, but I didn't think it was that fast. It was based on games during the 2011 season, so they did not have Peyton Manning's numbers. It would have been interesting to see the comparison between Manning and Brady. |

Custer was arrogant, not afraid. He got himself in a situation because of arrogance. And got whacked in less than 10 minutes. Landry? One of the best? When did that occur? Certainly not in the 15 games he DID NOT play the last 2 years. Double team the TE (NE has 2), plus Welker and the other WR? Jets pressure? Like what we've seen for 3 years? Intimidating. What a group of all pro DLs. Why, it's the Steel Curtain and Fearsome Foursome and Dallas Doomsday all in one - BUT BETTER. Landry and Bell. Why the best combo in the history of the NFL. No more Koolaid for you. Next: Sanchez is better than Montana. |

The Jets Pass-Rush WILL be better than last year. The Safeties WILL be better than last year. The Jets will be better prepared to cover the middle of the field this year. The FO recognized their biggest weakness last year on D, and they acted on it by their Off-season moves. |

While it is certainly reasonable for him to return to being a very good safety- to expect the same level of performance that he had prior to the injury and adding 15 lbs (at least) will be wishful at best. Bell is a solid SS but was never very good in pass defense even in his younger years. I think they put Cro on Hernadez, Wilson on Welker, Revis on Lloyd and Lankster on Gronk with Landry doubling. I don't see Rex using 2 safeties and 3 corners but 1 safety and 4 corners and rely on the LB to pick up the screen and the running game. |

I mean, we could throw Wilson on Welker from time to time, but I do agree; not during the majority of coverage situations. I'd rather have...
Revis on Welker. Cromartie on Hernandez. Wilson on Lloyd. Double Gronkowski with a LB and Landry. Obviously all of this becomes a moot point without putting consistent pressure on Brady. He's one of the greatest QB's of all-time, and as we all know, he'll pick opposing defenses apart without a strong pass rush. Thankfully he's 35 years old and like Marino and Kelly; he won't be around forever. His time is near, and as a Jets fan? I'm looking forward to his down fall/decline. |

it's a game of inches. stopping gronkowski or hernandez is going to start at the dline. get the pressure and get them off timing and both those guys become kyle brady.
imo the biggest issue is being able to stay fresh for the patsie hurry up. |

You put Revis on Welker, in the slot he is subject to taking a beating all game in the running game as Gronk, Hernandez, the pulling guard will be looking to wack him while he is engaged in hand fighting with Welker.
You are now moving your coverage away from Lloyd the one guy who is more likely to go deep, Wilson blows the coverage it is a big gain. IMO the key to stopping the pats is "giving" them the underneath stuff and let the pats use 14 plays to score. The more plays, the more opportunity for something bad. A tipped ball, a holding penalty, a drop, a forced throw due to pressure. I have always thought that he best cb should go on the deep threat. |

On a side note, Revis doesn't "take a beating all game" when he locks up on slot receivers either, in case you haven't noticed, he's one of the most aggressive/physical CB's around. Very strong/tough against the run. Has never "taken a beating" when using his coverage against slot WR's. What the hell are you talking about? "taking a beating all game". Please. Also, when you have an elite trio of CB's such as Revis, Cromartie and Wilson (the strongest trio of CB's around) you don't put your best CB on the deep threat, just because he runs fast; you put your best coverage CB in Revis on the opposing teams best overall receiver (more times than not). Revis just so happens to be one of the greatest coverage corners of all-time. You line him up against the opposing quarterbacks favorite WR target (See Manning/Wayne). Stephen Hill could become more of a deep threat than Holmes due to his top of the line (4.3) speed at 6'4 as an outside wide receiver. Kid led the nation in average yards per reception and should become an instant deep threat. That doesn't mean that a team such as the Eagles would put Aso on Hill, all because he's more of a deep threat when compared to Holmes. No, you'd put Aso on Holmes without question. ![]() There has been more evidence of Sanchez being finished than Brady being finished. All of these "one day . . . " arguments are stupid. |
