First off, the opening post is ridiculous and makes no sense.
Secondly, thanks to whoever posted the highlight video, I had never watched powell. Last year wasn't his fault, he came into a situation where he had 3 RBs in front of him that were 100% solid and none got hurt...actually the perfect situation for him to develop without pressure. As for the video, the third play on their really is an excellent run....he cut back, got to a second gear, and outran the defense, not much more you can ask for. If that is the player we have, he will easily beat out mcknight for the backup job. There are plenty of guys who "come out of nowhere" as RBs and Powell has always been touted for his vision/ability to read blocks which is arguably the most important thing a back can have (and something greene actually lacks). |

I just read on bleacher report that powell was one of the most improved and talked about players in camp..."ran the hardest and elusive" http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...=new-york-jets |

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on
the edge works out.

The ONE thing 3rd down backs need to be able to do is BLOCK. Then catch. Then run. It's not the other way around.
![]() Peyton Hillis plays on 3rd downs because he can block and catch, but he's not so fast. Adrian Peterson doesn't play on 3rd downs because while he can catch, he can't block, and he's one of the fastest players in the league. Go figure. Speed doesn't matter, you're not supposed to catch those short passes and turn them into 90yd TD plays. It's not like there's RB's out there that constantly make plays in the passing game. Sproles is one of the best 3rd down backs in the league, he averages a pathetic 8 yards per catch. Ray Rice is an elite 3rd down back, he averages 9 yards per catch. Powell is plenty quick/fast enough to make plays and to run away from linemen and linebackers. Yes, would be nice if he ran a 4.2 on top of that but who cares. If he gets open he'll make plays. If he's covered they won't throw the ball to him. So again, it doesn't matter, who cares. If he's the best blocker out there he should be the 3rd down back. He has decent hands and decent speed. If he doesn't get the job done Joe can always replace him again. We'll see what happens in the preseason. Besides, Joe always lines up at WR in 4-5 WR sets anyway. I'm happy with him being the #2, he'll see plenty passes thrown his way regardless if he plays 3rd down or not. |

this year i think the jets may have to use TEs and RBs instead of WRs for 3rd down sets, especially if cumberland can stay healthy. |

Thanks Tanny, had to unload him as fast as you could, Leon could have been the weapon that put us over the top in Pittsburgh, we're still trying to replace Leon |

The negative nannies are out in full force C Mart. Powell is just getting a chance to show his talent and this guy dumps on him just like that other alleged fan did with Coples. Its really getting old.

Yeah we could have used his 250 yards last year, and 50 yards receiving. Another huge mistake by this incompetent GM.
