As a fan that has suffered through the bad times its nice to go into a season knowing that the team will contend. With a top notch D we will contend every year. The offense remains a work in progress but what other choice is there. You draft a young QB that shows promise and hope it works out. We will know more after this season on that front. Schitty, not Sanchez or Gholston, was the biggest mistake of the Tannenbaum era. |

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on
the edge works out.

Besides, the explanation for the discrepancy between the D's points allowed and more advanced qualitative measures is HIGHLY plausible. There was a thread about this a few weeks ago. For one thing, the D was on the field for roughly an entire EXTRA GAME last year compared to league average: 201 drives faced verses 183 league average. When you look at points given up PER DRIVE, Jets were sixth in the league. Story is here. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/...-anomaly-trend |

We scored the number of points that we did last year because of how great we were in the red zone. We didn't have many long drives, but they usually ended in TDs. It wasn't often that we had 50+ yard drives stall out at the 15. We finished 2nd in red zone TD%, but were #1 in the league by a pretty good margin until the last 3 games.

Last year Plax was the #1 RZ weapon. And this year it's Tebow. Wonder how that'll work out.

A top QB has a top Offense. Flacco only benefits from people thinking of the Possibility that he could be a top 10 QB. and Ray Rice.
all i'm saying is look at the statistics. |

FWIW, last year Tebow averaged 5.8 ypc in the red zone with 6 TDs. He also converted on both two point attempts he had. He definitely sucks when asked to pass, but if they're near the goal line or need a short yardage conversion, I like the guy's chances. |

I agree with this. Sanchez has been given more weapons then most and comes up short in the production department. He has the skills, toughness, and ability but has yet to put it all together for more then 2 or 3 games at a time. Unlike guys like Smith he is capable of having 300 yard games and can move well out side the pocket. I still point out his pump fake is a disgrace and he doesn't trust himself or others as much as he should. Sometime he should just be putting the ball up and just doesn't. I can only hope he shakes that. Last year to me he was just too gun shy.

Not really......if you consider that ALL points scored by turnovers on offense and special teams are also added to the defense when they aren't even on the field then you can see that that stat is VERY misleading....add to that the fact the Jets were on the field so much because of putrid offensive playcalling and play you can see that the defense is still special...it just needs some help from the other side of the ball.

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on
