Some very interesting ideas as to where they thought we'd be today, as well as some super neato old-style Sci-Fi images to go with the comments.

Figured a few of you might enjoy it.

Loved the drawings/pics, especially the pic for #7 with the bearded guy, the hot chick, the slow Mexican teen, the chimp (you heard me) and the awesome 70s all terrain sci-fi vehicle. Just pure awesome.

Why must all the pictures involve us going "up"? The blurbs were interesting, but were not going to build ourselves out of the atmosphere.

A few of those are pretty spot on, or at least on the path to.

LOL

It'll be at least another 50 years before any of these things are achieved.

useless story really

most of the unoriginal suppositions were/are polluted by corrosive libspeak and assembled through L Ron Hubbard - figgers

computers using bacteria as transport media? moore's law was already well established by 1987 what a dumb conclusion

teh pictures were just randomly assembled and don't match neither

the one the OP likes is from 1908 - similar works date back to the late 19th c.

Wells and so forth have been imagining the future for decades before the 1980s

the one w / the chimp is the Saturday Morning ARK II show from the late 70s- the "Captain Planet" of its day

(IIRC the lil simian was a policeman)

the picture Gata likes prolly has the most stuff that has come to pass-again not too much that wasn't already imagined years before

So in an oddly juvenile and ill-executed attempt to make the scientific community look clueless, Fox News assembles a few random quotes from fantasy fiction writers (whom it dubs "science thinkers") and then matches the quotes with unrelated fantasy art pictures.

I'll take non sequitor for a thousand, Warfish.

The pictures were random but 25 years ago, science thinkers predicted the world in 2012, as part of the 1987 L, Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future award. That's where they were assembled.

This looks like an early rendition of the West Side Stadium, but whats up with the stadium on top of the stadium?
