Saw the movie for the first time last night.

I had to wait for a night when the wife wouldn't be home (her rules).

All I can say is I can't wait for the next chapter.

It definitely had its brutal moments (my wife would have left the room for sure) but they were approapriate for the mood of the film and development of Mara's character.

I do wonder what her well-known family members thought of her many provacative scenes.

I've read all three books and saw the Swedish versions of the last two. I thought both the book and movie versions of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest were really good.

Having gone to HS with Katie and traveled in similar social circles for awhile, I imagine they don't care all that much. That is, other than finding it weird to see your relative's mostly naked body of course, but who wouldn't find that awkward? I didn't know "Rooney" since she was much younger, but there was never any doubt Kate would make it to Hollywood (talk about born with a silver spoon) and the family never prevented her from living a normal life, boyfriends, booze etc.

I'm a fan of Swedish crime drama ...

My favorite of the genre is the British version of Wallander, starring Kenneth Brannagh. Middle aged, divorced, disillusioned and exhausted all the time.

If you have not seen this it's really worth renting, the Brits do a masterful job with it.

You can get the original Kurt Wallender Swedish crime drama (Henning Mankell) on apple tv, quite good.

There are many more including Maria Wern, The Bridge and Sebastian Bergman.

I'm the same. Read the whole book but it didn't do anything for me. Too much focus on little things that didn't matter, unexplained plot elements etc

Great movie. Could have done without the brutal rape scenes. Those were uncomfortable to watch.
