We can't ground and pound without a dominant offensive line OR an elite back. I don't think you need both.

Good line + elite back, that works.

Good back + dominant line, that works too.

Good back + good line, you're going to struggle to get 20 points in some games.

Average back + good line
Average line + good back
Average line + average back, or anything worse...

will fail every time. You need a few 40+ yard TDs each year in order to score more than 22 or 23 points per game. It's really hard to do that on the ground.

I was on that field a few weeks after it was replaced and it is a nice surface with plenty of "give". The problem, I believe, resides in the cleats these players are wearing now. I have a really hard time believing that these new turf surfaces cause more injury than a natural surface.

I agree with you about the cleats.

But sometimes these new fields are not perfect either. It looks like guys feet are getting stuck underneath them.

Sanchez didn't throw any checkdowns that I saw. We called a bunch of short pass plays.

There was one play where a receiver got open on a deep out, but the protection didn't hold up and Sanchez was already running for the first down marker when he was open. He would have also had to throw the ball across his body and against his momentum to get the ball to him, would have been a bad decision to throw it at that point.
