Start McKnight
Yeah, I said it. He's the 2nd most explosive player on the offense and he needs more touches.
He fumbles too much and he's bad in pass protection. Those things are true, but Greene and Powell aren't going to produce "chunk" yards for us. I'm tired of the philosophy that we have on offense. We're too conservative, and it goes beyond playcalling. We need to put guys on the field that can produce big plays. The coaching staff is going to go with Greene because he doesn't make mistakes, nevermind that he doesn't create any big plays. McKnight at HB; Holmes, Schillens, and Hill as the primary guys on the outside; 2 TE sets with Keller and Cumberland/Baker. And there's a reason that you don't see pure Fullbacks on rosters anymore. If you want a lead blocker, put a TE back there. The ones that are still around are good runners/receivers. |

I'm all for working McKnight into more of a feature back with a fresh bruiser in Greene rushing strong during the second half. McKnight brings more big play capability. But then again, I'm all for our coaching staff using a bruiser in Greene for a physical style of approach, with McKnight being the change of pace and hopefully gamebreaker. A thunder lighting/lightning thunder duo, either or, I'm just glad to see our backup having a productive camp regardless of who starts. Greene has earned the starting role thus far, putting up a productive season behind a struggling offensive line. Coming through in the clutch during postseason play. It's now up to McKnight to continue emerging.

I think Powell AND McKnight are better options than Green.

I'm one of the biggest Greene critics out. But he didn't look bad last night. Hell Powell looked worst.. McKnight on the other hand look great the guy needs to be on the field he is a big play threat.. He took a 4 yard dump off for like 15 yards Greene doesn't do things like that.

love the idea of resting Greene in the first half like we
did when he was a rookie, a well rested Greene can run by tired defenders, wasn't he hurt as a rookie ? It took him almost until the end of the season to get into the rotation, and that's where he dominated. Damn good idea. |

I think Mcknight needs to be on the field for 1rst down and/or 2nd down. So if you want to start him fine, but they will all rotate.
Besides from being more explosive than the other two, there is a running and passing threat with him in there. Why make him block, that's why Connor is in there. He should be buring LB's on a pass, in a mis match all day until they adjust. For any offense, 1rst down is key. |

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on
the edge works out.

No I think people said McKnight couldn't be a third down back because he can't pass protect. I guess that wouldn't matter for you because you want to play without a QB. No passs protection needed. Last edited by NY's stepchild; 08-11-2012 at 03:18 PM. |

Couldn't agree more. We need a HR hitter in the backfield. All Greene does is run into the backs of his linemen.
We need to find a way to get him and Holmes the ball. Our offense is antiquated and neglected by our FO and HC. |

Really? When your best ball carrier is the #2 QB I'd certainly be concerned. Neither Greene nor McKnight show the kind of hyper-acceleration and changeability that Tebow does. The fact that the RB specialists don't learn from it is yet another reason to be concerned. |

How could you possibly ask to start McKnight? Haven't you heard that he threw up at training camp three years ago?

Easy now....running in front of this OL is going to be a week to week adventure....no matter who the RB is. Having said that, up to now Greene has shown he is nothing more than a "decent" RB, He really has to show somthing this year IMO. McKnight shows burst but blocking has been an issue. Powell looks medicore with blocking upside. Next 2 games will be crucial to see where we really are. |

preseason games are not "crucial"
the Jets will use Greene as their starting back and rotate McKnight and Powell in as needed. not a problem for the 2012 Jets team |
