This is actually the most intelligent point made on this topic .. Bravo.

not signing eric winston is one of tannys biggest uh-ohs

i`m sure it had to do with the " we didnt want to pay him big $$" mentality, well if you dont want to pay the big bucks for elite talents, don`t gripe when you have an incumbent starter.

I've said the same thing as well many times. It was foolish not to spend the $$ on Winston. The offense (and especially Sanchez) will be penalized for that front-office blunder all season long.

Stanton would have made a fine #2 QB. He can at least throw the ball.

Err Stanton did not want to be a Jet! He asked for a trade! We are supposed to be a Ground and Pound Team so why worry about him being able to throw the ball? If he could do it well why has he not done more since he got into the NFL? You seem to be panicking after ONE preseason game! Lets see where our OL is after 4 preseason games. A good OLman will shake loose and we will pounce on him if we need it after a decent tryout for our kids!

LOL...Stanton asked for a trade AFTER the Tebow trade. Besides the Stanton aspect is the least important part of that equation. The real mistake was guaranteeing Hunter and trading for Tebow in lieu of signing a Winston and keeping the 4th round pick. Also, what makes you people think that a starting RT is going to "shake loose" right before the season starts?? No one is panicking after one pre-season game, they are panicking after 16 games last season AND one pre-season game this year.

Does this mean we are not going to get the best Jets team in 30 years this season?

We have the same exact issues we had last year. Can't run outside. Weak pass blocking on the edges.

And thats just the offense.

The defense still can't cover the TEs and RBs.

And the fact that we were vanilla yesterday doesn't matter. It wasn't our scheme that got beat, it was our players who got beat. Mano-a-mano. Coaching is very important but sooner or later it comes down to talent. And the talent on this roster has eroded every year since 2010.
I'm with you dude.

If the D continues like this and gives up 3 points every week, we're screwed.

LOL, you're such a clown.

Kind of missed drafting a WR? Oh wait, that's part of they did nothing viewpoint?

That we need OL depth, like every team in football, and didn't get much yet, has nothing to do with trying to improve other areas of the team. Using your logic the FO shouldn't do anything until getting OL help? Really? Any wonder why you're not a GM?

It goes beyond needing depth, they need a starting RT. No one is complaining that they didnt get a back up center or guard, they are complaining about not addressing the STARTING RT. Big difference.

Which one did you want?

You need to read, we need depth, we need a backup center. Basically the whiners on the board want a player at every position we didn't get one for. It's all over the board. The clueless see a sack blame OL depth. Blame RT. Blame whatever, they just don't understand what they watched.

We need a TE, we need a RB, we need a WR, we need a punter.

Read away, we need a team. And of course we could use a new GM and a HC.

It's easy, pick a position and whine like a moron that the position wasn't addressed. One particular brain dead moron started a thread that Hunter played like sh1t last night. Hunter. Really, he posted this.

And for all the whining, the starting OL played well last night.

RT was one of the top 3 needs this team had after last season. They chose to not address the position this year. If the O line plays poor and Hunter is what he was last year, then criticism is warranted.

Might make sense to wait for the final roster and until the OL plays poorly though.

Given that Hunter didn't play and they were fine last night, not getting the continued whine. OL is one of those positions, we've heard about the need for depth for years and years. Last year was one of the handful of times that they got it right.

And again, who did you want at RT?

You are completely missing the whole point.

Also, how did they get it right last year??

No, you're missing the point, they got it right meaning those who cry for OL depth.

Riley Reiff from Iowa could have stepped in and started at RT for the Jets from day one. Selecting him with the #16 pick was needed far more than drafting Coples. Coples was a luxury choice given that the Jets D line was already solid.

Reiff ended up going #23 so the value was there.

LOL...what are you talking about??

The O line depth last year was probably the worst it has been in ten years. They STARTED a guy off the street at center. Are you drunk or something?

You're not paying attention, you're just thinking your making some kind of new point.

I said that they've said the same things every year, that they wanted depth on the OL and last season was the first time it came true.

Is it that hard to get? Re read, slow, and think. I'm agreeing, the line sucked last season,

No way, Coples was the right pick at that spot. You pick the best player, not the guy you want later.

Draft Reiff and replace all the "we need a RT" thread and post with "we need help at getting to the QB, look at the Giants ,they beat Brady with line play", blah, blah, blah.

Cant fill every spot in the offseason with the cap staying pretty level.
