Laughingstock of the league - AGAIN

One of the most-chronicled truly-awful teams in the history of organized sports. And they can't even score a TD.

Great question by Cris Carter - "What did Plaxico Burress do to not be on this team?"

That would be the browns, lolphins, jaguars, and other assorted teams. We don't have it as bad as we think.

Besides not getting seeration and probably being the source of "unamed sources" talking sht to reporters? Oh ...no one else has signed him either by the way.

...and we are one of the most chronically awful teams not because of this current regime...you can than Leon Hess for that. The current Jets are not a laughingstock. They are hated...I'm ok with that.

That's it right there and it's something that older fans have to get used to. We're not a laughing stock, we've been more successful than most teams the last few years. We are hated, we are relevant to the football world and everyone wants to say something about us. The never ending discussion about the Jets coincides with this NFL boom in popularity. Our games our always the most watched on prime time no matter the opponent.

We're kinda like the Notre Dame of the NFL; very popular and accessible, but not some powerhouse winner.

Agreed. That would be a more reasonable assessment. Can't wait for the season proper and see our D with the kid gloves off and Rex dialing up the blitzes and fiendish schemes

Never thought of that ... But absolutely true. We don't deserve the Press we get ... Just like Notre Dame. we somehow attract decent but not great talent ... Just like Notre Dame. The Jets smell their own farts .... Just like Notre Dame.

^^ yeah, this is getting out of control. I have stopped watching TV and reading articles because it's just unbearable. Have the jets sucked so far? yes, but it's 2 preseason games!!!! Nobody seems to understand that.

Preseason never, ever mattered to anyone (fans/media/etc.) but all of a sudden in 2012 the Jets O is struggling and now it's a huge freaking deal. makes absolutely zero sense. zero.

Are the jets going to be a juggernaut offense when they are completely healthy? no. But can they score 21+ ppg as they have in each of the past 4 seasons? of course they can.

And if you haven't noticed, the Jets' first-team defense hasn't given up a TD yet. Haven't heard an "expert" bring that point up yet. I guess preseason only matters when it comes to the Jets O, not defense.

and I agree with some of the other posters, the jets aren't a laughingstock, just not liked. you have to be all-around inept to be a laughingstock. while many on this board like to think that, it's not true

Dolphins have been to several SBs - won a couple. Browns (new ones) and Jags are relatively new teams. Jets 43 years and counting.

Jets though are not a laughingstock, just not a SB contender this year.

I'm not saying we are, I'm just saying there are worse teams out there.

It should be noted that being something years ago doesn't mean that's who you are now. I'm sure any level headed Dallas fan would tell you that the 90s are long gone.

I think we are more of a laughingstock because of the sideshow that goes on.

- the hilarious draft day reactions from Jets fans
- drafting scrubs over HOF players
- the way Jets fans act when they show them on TV (showing fireman Ed on TV is not a compliment to our fan base)
- whenever they show a fan on tv with a Jets jersey on, it's typically an overweight guy who sounds like an idiot when given the chance to speak
- Brett Favre penis pics
- Woody Johnson
- Rex Ryan

Hard Knocks didn't help the perception if us being a joke franchise either.

We were laughing stocks in 2009 and 10 also. 2011 we were supposed to be contenders, and look what happened.

loser mentality again with this op.

the JETS are far from a laughingstock. That would be the 95,96 Jets, not this team.

One losing season since 2005, not bad for this 40 something fan who has seen the worst.

Believe it or not the 70's were the worst decade for the Jets.. Not 1 winning season best they did was a even record 4 times 7-7 or 8-8 when the 16 game season started in 1978..

Pick a headline folks ...

"JETS (1-0) GO INTO PITTSBURGH TO AVENGE PAST DEMONS"

"JETS FANS SEE OPTIMISM DESPITE POOR PRESEASON"

"JETS OFFENSIVE WAKES UP - BEATS BUFFALO 24-14"

The moral of the story - this team is not 100% built yet (Right OT) and we need to relax !! It's way too early to panic !!
