Colts close to a major trade??

http://espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp1...mplating-trade

I'm not sure if it would be with the Jets - or even if the Jets would trade say CB Wilson for anyone on their roster that could help us, certainly none of the OT they have on their roster is worth a major trade for us.

Stay tuned.

Jim Irsay: Trade winds are blowing
Updated: August 23, 2012, 8:18 PM ET
Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts owner Jim Irsay says his team is seriously contemplating a trade -- a deal that could possibly include a high draft pick.

AFC South blog
ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky writes about all things AFC South in his division blog.

On Thursday, Irsay wrote on Twitter that "serious" trade winds are blowing, though he also noted that often times these deals fall through.

Later, he tweeted that new Colts general manager Ryan Grigson isn't afraid to roll the dice and that the owner was willing to open his checkbook.

Those two posts followed an earlier one that read simply: "TRADE WINDS BLOWING."

Irsay has not provided any indication of who the Colts might be trying to get, though their two biggest areas of need are cornerback and offensive line.

Grison and coach Chuck Pagano have repeatedly said they will do anything they can to improve the team.

I have to assume that a "major trade" would involve starting players.

It's going to be something like Winston Justice and a 2nd for Cromartie.

Something like that, if not with the Jets then with the Jags for MJD.

Would you make that trade?

Justice may be better than Hunter/Howard, but there's no guarantee he's a long-term answer.

We'd obviously be weakening our secondary, but maybe the improvements made up front would lessen the impact.

And it would sure be nice to GET a high pick for once

Honestly, no. Cro is a starter on 90% of the teams he would go to. Name 5 CBs better than him? We're spoiled by Revis, and then have little patience every time someone makes a mistake - so people don't realize how good we have it at the CB position.

Don't mess with the defense. Give them a 5th for Winston and be done with hit. He's not even worth that.

Report: Colts pursuing a veteran cornerback

A reliable source tells the Indianapolis Star the player the Colts are pursuing in trade talks is a cornerback.
Owner Jim Irsay's comments suggest the trade target is a veteran looking for a new contract. Cary Williams reportedly turned down a three-year, $15 million offer before training camp, and the Ravens have depth in 2011 first-rounder Jimmy Smith. CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora confirms the Colts have had no talks with the Cowboys about Mike Jenkins' (shoulder) availability. Rotoworld's Evan Silva suspects Dolphins CB Vontae Davis could be the Colts' target, as Williams is playing Thursday night. If he was involved in talks, the Ravens would likely hold him out.

It's Revis for Justice and 2 first round picks.

You also have defended Wilson by saying we're spoiled by Revis. Obviously, it's true that most of us take Revis' elite play for granted at this point, but it's still maddening to see Cro and/or Wilson slip up, usually in the same manor.

As for your question, easy: 1) Aso 2) Woodson 3) Bailey 4) Samuel 5) Finnegan. I'm a fan of Cro's, but he's in no way shape or form a top-5 corner.

Wilson is also a good corner. He's not in the league of Cromartie, but he's still a good player.

Yes, Cro and/or Wilson messing up drives us crazy, but it's a high exposure position. Watch the other teams' corners for a bunch of games and the same things happen.

The top 5 can be debatable, and honestly, Cro played better than Aso, Samuel and Finnegan last year, IMO.
