Could Powell be #2 Back?

It looks like McKnight's going into the season as the #2 depth chart-wise but you think Powell could end up overtaking him and finishing with more carries than McKnight?

Powell could be the team's #1 before it's all said and done. He seems to be able to do a little bit of everything.

i like McKnight as a change-of-pace back to Greene, getting touches on running downs.

Powell seems to be the best pass-blocker and most consistent receiver, so for now keep him as the third-down back.

After watching him in practice at Family Night, Powell really showed nice hands catching passes out of the backfield. This is a place that sean Greene struggles. I think Powell has already taken that spot while McKnight will be regulated to Kickoff returns which he is successful at.

What the hell has this kid ever shown outside of practice?

Seriously, he supposedly lights it up during camp but then looks like dogsh*t whenever I see him in a live game.

I find it hilarious that last year everyone wanted Powell Cut, and this year they want him to be our starter.

For real, am I missing something? He has done nothing in preseason that resembles a starting RB.

Not me.

I've heard everything but seen very little.

I don't see an NFL quality RB.

My answer to the OP is an unequivocal NO.

I dont recall ever seeing him make a play and say "wow, that kid has potential". So far all we see is him running into the line and going down.

I can see it now.

The OL blows open a hole Sunday night and Powell scampers for 20 yards.

This board will explode with Bilal Powell should be #1!!!!

The guy doesn't seem to have any awareness or field vision at all.

So far, he looks like nothing more than a waste of a roster spot.

Another hyped up training camp body in the Clowney/Ratliff mold.

Hell, at least those guys made plays in the preseason.

Worse than that, they wasted a 4th round pick on him.

has anyone on the offense 'made a play' this preseason? they have as many sacks as first downs.

This isn't just about the preseason.

Even in limited playing time last year Powell looked god awful.

I could care less how much you "light it up" during training camp if you're going to look totally lost when the real action starts.

It's like sec 101 said, every damn run we see from this kid is the same. Maybe 2-3 yards if he's lucky and then he ends up running straight into the back of an OL.

i don't get it. against the giants, powell had a 3.5 yard average and greene had a 3.3 yard average, each with a long run of 8. how does powell suck but greene is ok? or does greene suck too?

No, Greene doesn't suck.

He's just incredibly average.

He's the definition of one dimensional.

A solid inside runner but is totally useless as a receiver and offers no homerun ability at all.

He's best suited as a change of pace powerback, not a workhorse.

For a team that has spent the entire offseason preaching "Ground and Pound", we sure as hell don't have the look of a ground and pound team.
