That gutless panther who aimed for his knee should be thrown out of the league.

That was an ugly hit, tough to watch. Let's hope for a speedy recovery.

Any word on Harris and Keller injuries?

Josh Baker is getting an MRI on his injured knee this morning. Will have results a bit later in the day.

Someone on The Herd said Keller should be ready for W1.

expected as much. Sucks for Baker. TE depth is a huge issue now. Any notable TE available?

Dustin Keller expects to be fine after suffering an injury in the Jets Sunday night game against the Panthers.

Jets tight end Dustin Keller left the game during New York's first drive against the Carolina Panthers with what looked like a hamstring injury. Keller hauled in a 24-yard catch from Mark Sanchez but looked like he pulled up just before he was tackled. He is on the sidelines and getting looked at by the Jets' doctors and will not return to the game.

Keller played in all 16 games for the Jets last season and caught a career-high 65 passes for 815 yards with five touchdowns. He has 213 receptions in his career for 2,559 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Here is a look at the play where Keller was injured.

The New York Jets suffered a scare on Sunday Night against the Carolina Panthers when tight end Dustin Keller injured his right hamstring in the first quarter.

However, it appears Gang Green is finally getting some good news this preseason. According to ESPN, Keller is expected to be on the field Week 1 when the Jets take on the Buffalo Bills.

New York can ill-afford to lose Keller with the offense already mired in one of the worst touchdown slumps ever seen in the preseason. (The last team not to score a touchdown in first three preseason contests? The 1977 Atlanta Falcons).

Keller provides Mark Sanchez with a legitimate target who can make plays once the ball is in his hands. Outside of Santonio Holmes, a strong case could be made that Keller is the No. 2 target in the passing game.

The Jets may have lost Sunday night, but it clearly could've been worse.

For more on Dustin Keller, please be sure to check out our blog Gang Green Nation and SB Nation New York along with our Football Hub and SBNation.com for all the latest news and updates.

I agree because of the following.

Normally, one could say it's a bang bang play. Heat of the battle tackle.

However, later in the game, when Sanchez was trying to get into the EZ (he had no chance but he was trying) on a scramble, that same player (#24) projectiled himself towards Sanchez' head. Fortunately for Sanchez, he had just been taken to the ground by another defender and his head was low enough to avoid the hit.

I don't know if anyone saw that but I noticed it right away. I didn't know for sure it was the same guy until after the play. But I had assumed it was and I was right. He's a dirty little **** and those 2 plays should be reviewed together IMO to demonstrate the type of intent this punk plays with and hopefully suspend and/or fine his ass.

I'm sickened by the injury to Baker. I fear the worst. Hard guy to replace at this point of the off-season. He does a lot of little things very well.

I like Baker but this could be a blessing in disguise, as it will force Tanny to go out and sign a legit blocking TE.
