Not even close.

But expecting anything close to objectivity from a partisan is asking too much. If Obama said it, by gosh, Blitz believes without concern it lock, stock, and barrel.

Maybe we can just skip this, and get right to the thread where you tell us how awesome a job he did protecting N.O., and how much better it was than Bush.

Yep, that's me, starting threads about "Is Obama playing politics with FEMA by preemptively deploying them to areas likely to be hit by Hurricane Isaac?"

You forgot Alabama and Mississippi.

Why would Obama protect Republican States? Something nefarious is afoot...

There is a sh!t storm coming for sure. Obama should send FEMA to North Carolina to deal with all the crap scheduled to be spewed there next week.

Small efficient Govt., right?

Better yet, just sitting there taking it up the ass when the President then uses said exceedingly pre-emptive deployment (or completely made up claim of same used for political gain) as a political tool with which to beat (R) over the head yet again for their failings over Katrina.

Hey, I think there is another storm forming just off Africa as we speak, I sure as **** hope FEMA is deployed here in Virginia, we might get hit!

Ouch, Big Government Romney Loyalist? This ticket is the first real "Small Government" ticket I've had the pleasure to support in my lifetime. Thats exciting for me personally. As far as this thread I didn't bother reading the original article. I don't see a conspiracy here. I'd imagine it is standard operating procedure to ready FEMA when a hurricane is getting ready to hit. Better safe then sorry IMO. Maybe they changed things when the Katrina thing was handled so poorly.

Meanwhile this is convention season. We have the GOP convention which will be a serious discussion of economic policies dealing with the issues most critical to the country. Next week is the DNC's socialistapalooza party. The who's who of left wing extremists and one issue folks like Sandra Fluke will be on full display. Not a single policy person. No discussion of serious issues. Eva Longoria has a prime speaking role there. Not to mention women from GLBT and Planned Parenthood getting prime roles.

My focus is on the extreme contrast of styles at these two conventions. I could care less about conspiracy theories about when FEMA was deployed where.

LOL.

Sorry guy, I'm as anti-Obama as any reasonable person on here, and may even vote Romney-Ryan

But if you believe Rom-ran is a true Small Government ticket, then I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

That concept is right on par with the "War(s) on (insert group here)". The wool being pulled over your eyes is just from a different sheep than theirs is.

There is no conspiracy.

We have a comment that FEMA was deployed to a specific region, before there was any legitimate reason to do so. The storm was not yet even a tropical storm, was barely off teh coast of Africa, the track was exceptionally variable still (to the point of not hit at all being a legitimate possabillity), etc.

All I want to know is why FEMA was deployed specificly to LA/MS/AL at that point (pre 8/21). What was the basis of that deployment, because the NOAA data doesn't support it.

You claim to be a small Govt. guy, yet you "could care less" about something that is either an outright lie for political gain, or a wasteful use of FEMA in order to CYA (this is whay I'd think tbh).

So, ok, you don't care. Too busy salivating over Ms. Romney's forthcoming talkingpointfest and Mr. Christie being Christie Blowhardiness. Got it.

Meanwhile, you've just given a de facto pass to the Fed. for deploying FEMA anywhere and everywhere any storm "might" hit, permanently at any cost it takes. because you don't, in fact, care about accountabillity (or hoensty) at all, all you care about is getting your team elected so it can be your team who gets the perks, wastes the money, and spend on it's pet pork projects.

A storm sits off the coast of Africa. FEMA is deployed to New York. After all....New York "might" be hit, right?

Before you make your unbiased observations observe the convention speeches this week. The focus of the convention will absolutely be smaller fiscally responsible government. The theme of the campaign is all about reform. Now if your basis for comparison is Ron Paul and his slash the budget by a trillion dollars in year one plan then you are correct. I am comparing this ticket to previous GOP tickets. This is by far and away the first time since Reagan that we have a ticked whose primary theme is fiscal responsibility and smaller more efficient government.

Wow.

Just look at all the talking points.

Not an original thought in the entire post, it's literally word for word an assortment of talking points.

I simply don't see the "political gain" for Obama in dispatching FEMA early. There is the crux of it. If you want outrage lets talk about Obama tapping our strategic oil reserves in order to try and get gas prices down ahead of the election. At a time of extreme tension in the Middle East, Syria situation, Egypt looks bad, Israel on the verge of hitting Iran's nukes, it seems to me that we should be stocking up the reserve not tapping it to try and shave some pennies off the gas prices.

If you want my outrage talk about the Obama administration leaking national security secrets nonstop in an effort to make their candidate look tough.

This FEMA thing however I just don't see the political gain from it. Sorry.

I don't understand. I was discussing the strategy being deployed by Romney at the convention this week. That is not a talking point it is political fact. You may not believe they will act on what they say but that is an opinion you may hold. There is no denying what the Romney campaign has decided to push as their campaign theme.

The theme of every convention of every party is designed specifically to get the most votes in November. I am far more interested in results afterwards. If they win, don't bank on delivery of promises. These themes change with whatever way the wind blows.

I'll be watching the convention. The same way I watch a Rex Ryan press conference.

Post-Katrina, any sitting President would have to be a moron not to be overly cautious. And during a campaign for re-election? Pfft.

This is not the place I'd be complaining about this administration overspending.

Well, Obama is a weather wizard then. Since he knew they the hurricane would hit the gulf area at the same time that the NOAA forecasted that it would develop into a storm and hit the gulf area.

Obama evil. Whar. Gharb. And stuff.

Obama is in charge of FEMA, not Romeny.

Specificly, Romney has nowt to do with what B. Hussein does to look like he's caring for "his people" in the face of a natural disaster to keep the GOP off the front page.

Shoot, even crypto-liberals itching to usher in a 2nd 0 term know that.

To continue my Jets analogy, Ron Paul is the GOP's Darrelle Revis. At times, he's like the greatest man who ever lived. At others, you wish he would just shut the fuq up.

I thought it was somewhat petty not announcing his numbers. But watch the Rand Paul interview from last night, and he put the whole thing into pretty nice perspective. The Romney ticket really did make some significant concessions to the Paul camp, but they also have to be extremely careful with it.
