K's Gano and Rackers cut....interest?
Personally, Folk always makes me nervous and at mid-70's % in FG's made the past two years, can we do better?
Just a thought... |

I have oddly been a HUGE Rackers fan for years so I'd say yes there. Don't think I've ever actually liked a kicker other then him. But Folk has looked OK so it isn't a dire need. Why any team would cut Rackers I have no clue. He has been a great K for over a decade now and has one of the widest ranges in the league. 26-48 from 50+ is not too shabby IMO Akers is 22-41 and is older. I'd take either in a heart beat.

Don't be fooled by FG% for indoor kickers versus outdoor kickers

Folk has been lights out. Don't mess with his confidence.

Agreed. Folk looks strong and confident with all his kicks this preseason. He's inexplicably a little weak on the kickoffs - but he looks like a different kicker than last year.
Who knows if that will last into the preseason - but you can't cut that guy just because he might be worse once the bell rings - at least not for Gano, etc. |

Read that Rackers wasn't getting his KO's deep.
I would have rather had Cundiff. The guy Gano was cut for. I think Folk is here to stay. |

Folk has been automatic. You don't rehab a kicker and pass on him when he's showing the results.

I think the K competition was rigged. Did Brown have any misses of note?

Gano is only 25, has got a big leg and an improving percentage in his few years kicking. If the front office weren't in love with Folk, I would say forget these once-great old kickers and choose Gano as the promising choice going forward but they love Folk's current kicking form - so no way in hell would it ever happen.

He clanged one in off the right post vs NYG and missed wide left from 45, not very close
