I'll wait until we have a pass rush in a few actual games before contemplating a Cro & Wilson tandem at CB.
Because if it isn't near a Giants level, Wilson will get eaten alive.

if ducasse starts next year and this year's draft class pans out, it more than offsets wilson's suckiness. seems like wilson isn't any different than lankster.

Sharper was a runner up for DMVP that year, plus Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter had great seasons. Porter obviously had the pick 6 in the SB, and I believe it was he who had the late game INT on Favre in the NFCCG.

My basic point is that there is no exact science to building a championship team. All the SB winners were either great complete teams and/or got hot at the end of the season. Each season after a team wins the SB, the narrative is always, "Well the SB champs won it with X, and you MUST have that to win." Completely hypothetical, but let's say the Jets win the SB this year...do you realize how many fans and analysts will be clamoring that a team needs a shutdown corner to win it all?
The Saints also blitzed as much as we did. They had a better pass rush which again covers up the secondary's limitation. Yes the Colts AFCCG shows what happens when you have no pash rush, and one too few corners.

You trade Revis, don't cut him, and use that money / picks for a WR and OLB. WR's make QBs look good. The difference between Eli's bad year in 2010, and "Elite" year in 2011 was his Recievers, instead of tipping balls up and causing an int, they would make big plays for him. Eli played the same in both years.

Revis has to go, you do NOT want to lock him, not worth the headache and not worth his price tag. I'd take a 1st and 3rd for him.

if you're going to trade revis you do it to move up in a draft to get a qb.

And don't forget corners dropping INT's vs Miami and Arizona to name a couple. he hit them in the chest with what woulda been game winning interception returns. Eli still throws dumb passes people just caught less of them.

Yes it is the pass rush, I agree with the OP.

Finally having a pass rush (if that is truly what we have) will make everything else better. It is not 100% clear that we are home free on this score however.

Maybin is still a specialist and a one trick pony until proven otherwise. While I like what I have seen so far I do worry that other teams will figure out how to neutralize that one trick.

Mo Wilkerson is Shawn Ellis type "stay at home and do everything well" type DE and I do not really expect him to rack up sacks in any large numbers. If we get a Shawn Ellis type career out of Mo I will be very happy. I do hope that he is knocking at the door of a pro-bowl or two in the years to come although that is tough with the voters being blind to everything except sack totals.

Kenrick Ellis.... Baby Jenks... I am very excited about him and in fact I said a few months ago that I had high hopes that his brush with the legal system would bring him out with a new determination and a dose of the nasty. Fingers crossed, but he does seem to be developing in that direction. At the end of the day he may end up as Mike Tannenbaum's best draft pick of his (hopefully soon to end) GM career.

Coples... Well, let's see. Things are looking good so far and his upside is probably the highest of the bunch in terms of pure pass rushing. So far so good.

Oh and to the pay Revis whatever he wants crowd.

No.

The price for premiere CBs went down after Al Davies died and rightly so. Revis is the best at his position but he is pricing himself out of the market if he expects QB money or Premiere DE money. Let him peddle his skills elsewhere for that price. A contract like that would cripple this franchise for a position that is simply not worth that percentage of the cap.

Agreed, if the young guys they have chosen improve and continue to look good our Dline is set for the foreseeable future. Ellis, Wilkinson, Coples, looking good. Hopefully Maybin will do what he did last year, just out run the olineman and pressure the QB on passing downs.

I see a starting season with new coordinator and offensive schemes to probably not be as bad as the pundits predict and most likely not as good as the fans will be hoping for for the first 6 games. It's gonna take a few weeks in real time to work out the kinks. Don't waste time jumping off bridges until week 8. I'm hoping for the best (1-2 going into Mia) and bracing for the worst going into NE ...
