Where was Coples?

Hardly seemed to play at all. Sorry if this has been covered but I'm too damn depressed to read all these threads.

I suspect he was over-hyped, leading to the everyday fan having very high expectations for him. I suspect that he will be a serviceable player but not a great one.

They had him on the sidelines a bunch. His conditioning still could be an issue, unfortunately.

Led the league in sacks in the preseason. (I know it was preseason.) But he seemed to be pretty quick.

Seems quick but the question with him is his head. Does he bring it on every down the way the great ones do. I suspect not but we wont know until we see him play for a year or two.

Rex mentioned in his presser that since the Steelers had one of the largest offensive lines in the league, they were better off using bigger lineman instead of Coples who's 280 lbs. Sounds like a weird & lame excuse....

Well Rex has an excuse for EVERYTHING. Did you hear him spin the end of the first half debacle.

It's called Veteranitis, a disease that the coaching staff has.

I listened to most of the presser and didn't hear him talk about that part or if it was even asked. I can't believe they didn't try to get into FG range on that drive.

I read that REX felt he was too light to play against the huge Pittsburgh OL. I think its a crock of err **it!

Two light! I mean this is the spin of someone who is on the decline. For crying out loud, what line in the NFL is not huge?

That's dumb if true. You can't sit a player who you took at #16 because he's not big enough. Should've lined him up at DE.

agreed but I think something else went on. Maybe the guy took a play off etc. Who knows but it is a very lame excuse for sure!

So in other words , Rex theory is match big and slow o line with big and slow d line. Is he serious!! Did he not see Denver speed up front give Pitts o line some problems or did he not see when we used some speed to force them into taking a fg on the first possession.

too light to play against the steelers line? did he not watch the broncos game as von miller and elvis dummerville had their way with that line, both lighter than coples i believe

I was disappointed to see him on the sideline for the TD play. If 3rd and 16 is not a down to have your pass rushing specialist in there, particularly if you are only sending 3 then I don't know what is the right time.

is that also why they use greene for 11 carries and 23 yards while mcknight got more than half of those yards on only 1 carry?

i have to say i'm tired of rex's personnel decisions. tanny drafts the players but doesn't decide how much, if and when they play. the jets needed all the talent and athleticism against the steelers and could have used powell and coples instead of greene and dixon (who essentially didn't make the team).

as far as i'm concerned, rex's decisions are subject to criticism. he's not above reproach and should be as responsible for the failures as the GM, OC or anyone else.
