Timmons Fined $21K for Hit on Sanchez

Timmons fined $21,000 for Sanchez hit

By Rich Cimini | ESPNNewYork.com
Quote:
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons was fined $21,000 by the NFL for his helmet-to-helmet on QB Mark Sanchez last Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Timmons revealed the fine on a Pittsburgh-area radio show. And he wasn't happy.

“What can you do? I was just playing ball,” Timmons told Joe Starkey of 93.7 The Fan, via ProFootballTalk.com. “I lowered my target like you’re supposed to do. I can’t help it if he slides or falls. It’s a tough spot to be in.”

This was a blatant helmet-to-helmet shot, and Timmons was flagged by the officials. It seemed to have an effect on Sanchez, who completed only six of 22 passes after the hit.

$21k to basically end the game in the 2nd quarter? Seems like a deal to me.

When will of our defensive players drill a QB like that? Last one I remember was Pace on Eli in last year's PS. That was actually a legal hit though

Bet the team has a way of secretly reimbursing him too. Paid public appearances, free cheerleader hookers, whatever.

What does $21,000 get you in terms of hookers?

Always wondered about this. Think teams include incentives in a FA contract to sweeten a deal thats close?
