I don't know anything about knee surgeries so I'll just ask this:

Are there different ways to do an ACL surgery?

For something that serious, wouldn't you get a second opinion? I know I would.

Patellar and hamstring grafts are the 2 main types. Mine was hamstring graft, which was highly recommended by the Dr. for athletes, which is generally not the consensus. I have zero complaints with how it turned out, and a decade later I have zero knee pain, other than the occasionas stiffness in the morning(insert morning wood joke)

Patellar grafts are generally more common for athletes for the most part, but may run a higher risk of chronic knee pain.

This is all just one Dr's opinion, but he's done hundreds of hamstring grafts for athletes.

standard procedure.

Jets (and other teams) encourage second opinions on serious injuries.

Ive torn my MCL, ACL, PCL, and menisus at different times while playing football/rugby.

There are alot of different procedural techniques for each ligament. Getting a second opinion is rather standard.

However, he should just go to Dr. James Andrews (arthroscopic surgeon of the stars, see AP).

I just assumed they all went to him hence the curiosity of 2nd opinion.

Two years ago, I was diagnosed with a torn acl by doctor 1. He sent me to his partner who did all the acl surgeries for the practice. Dr 2 said he didn't think the acl was torn, but scheduled surgery to fix it or whatever else was wrong (something was definitely wrong). We even picked a graft for the surgery. Turned out I had a bone chip the size of a garden pea floating around in there.

Even if it is a torn acl, there are options and different ways to do it (cadaver or no cadaver).

2nd opinions are your friend!

Reported the other day the Jets encouraged him and all their players to get a 2nd prior to surgery.

He's doomed. Landry is going to convince him to skip surgery and go with vodoo. Although I gotta admit it seems to have worked for Landry.
