When I renovated my kitchen this past summer I bought all my appliances at PC. I first went to Reno's in Paterson, got prices. I then asked for prices at PC and they matched the prices for everything I got $200 below each item. I mixed an match all my appliances but so far so good. PC is great in dealing with all the guys I work with too.

I did my kitchen too, a few years ago and have had to have service calls for the Fridge, dishwasher (a Bosch!) and Microwave. This doesnt include the dryer, washer and now TV...which were all bought in roughly the same time frame. I dont own an squirell. You're hired. - |

Probably has nothing to do with PC Richards but . . .
Best place to buy electronics is Best Buy. Best place to buy appliances is Sears. Best place to buy everything else is Amazon. Just something I have learned over the years. |

Whole house surge surpression. Or you just have really ****ty luck.
You could bypass commercial power and install your own generator to avoid the spikes. Are you a "do-er?" |

Hopefully, your $4500 TV was plugged into a surge protector/line conditioner. Mine's an APC, about $175. It protects about $5k worth of equipment.
Here's what you do: unplug everything, electrical and inputs. Plug them all back in. If you have any other TVs in the house, test that the set top box is working properly. Maybe the box got fried. Swap boxes and see if the Sony works. Process of elimination. |

Two things come to mind....
1) Dont buy crap from PC Richards. 2) Invest in a generator. |

Hmmm, maybe this is God's way of suggesting that modern, urban, tech heavy life isn't for you, and that you should unburden yourself and start over with a cabin in, say, Vermont. Just a thought. |

There is an outside chance you are OK.
(1) I have had situations before where I thought for sure the TV was dead and powering off and on did not fix it. Sometimes it is really dead and sometimes it can magically come back to life if you disconnect the power cable (yes pull the plug) leave it for 30-45 seconds and then plug it back in again. I assume in these cases that the firmware got into a bad state and a hard reset of the power fixed it. (2) Your other chance is that the problem only exists with the particular input you are using. I would try a differen HDMI input into the back of the TV or failing that I would see any of the other connection types (component, s-video, etc) supported by your cable box are working. If the TV comes on and shows a picture it may not be optimal but you are not dead in the water while you play footsie with the warranty folks. Beyond that I got nothing except that it seems to me that Sony Bravia was endorsed unreservedly by a certain poster on here and I would seek recourse from him for bad advice. Even if you don't end up getting cash you can vent your frustrations to some degree. |
