NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!!!
California’s state song will soon be changed from "California, Here I Come!" to "California, There It Goes!" An American icon, the Campbell Soup Company, is closing its plant in Sacramento, leaving 700 people without jobs. The plant was built in 1947, and some of its workers have worked there for forty years or more.
Most of the items produced in Sacramento will be transferred to Campbell’s plants in Texas, North Carolina, and Ohio. Another plant in South Plainfield, New Jersey is being closed as well. Mark Alexander, the president of Campbell North America, said: We recognize this is difficult news for employees in Sacramento and South Plainfield. Campbell is committed to helping them work through this transition. We expect the steps we’re announcing today to improve our competitiveness and performance by increasing our asset utilization, lowering our total delivered costs and enhancing the flexibility of our manufacturing network. These actions also will eliminate the capital investments needed to maintain the Sacramento plant. Campbell’s isn’t the only big business to flee California’s oppressive business climate this week. Comcast announced two days ago that it will close all three of its call centers in Northern California, including one in Sacramento. 1,000 Comcast employees, including 300 in Sacramento, will have to pull up stakes. It used to be that people pulled up stakes to move to California; now the only stakes involved are the stakes driven through the dying state’s businesses’ collective hearts. hahaha!!!!!!!!! |

Because all the production is going to NON UNION facilities with exception of maybe Ohio. NJ and Cal have overpriced labor. Not so in NC and Texas. You'll be seeing more. Boeing with more production in SC and Texas. J&J to Brazil. Intel to Arizona (non union). T-Mobile's call centers to the Phillipines. Wanna be greedy? No job for you. |

love how Texas is held up as the model state because, of course, (R)s are good and strong and control the state.
Reality is somewhat different; 1. Texas does create jobs; in fact everyone has about three of them. If your goal is to start your working day making $7 an hour at a Walmart and end it closing up the local 7-11 for $7 an hour, Texas rocks! 2. Because of the relaxed business regulations (understatement) Texas is among the worst in the country in pollution. Of course, that is not the fault of the corporations producing the pollution; its the populations' fault for breathing it in. Last edited by intelligentjetsfan; 09-29-2012 at 12:57 PM. |

Texas has a couple other good things working for it. No state income tax. Cheap Housing. Cheap land for companies to put their national headquarters. Centrally located in the US. Put it this way, if you were a company, would you have a plant in CA and have the Sh** taxed out of you, or come to Texas, where the land is 1/4 the price, and state taxes are way lower? |

Seems to me that the free individuals that applied for and took those jobs disagree. Go figure. |

Indirect admission by the far-right mind: work hard and be grateful for the crumbs that fall off the table.
