I just bounced back Sept 17; had the Inguinal surgery Aug 3rd.

Stay out of bed and get lots of range of motion exercise in. That's all I got. The first week is nasty from the anethesia

When do you stop feeling that heaviness on the incision and that 'ridge' atop it?

It's hard to get comfortable. Glad to see that you needed six weeks, makes me feel less lame.
