Maybe "wall" is extreme I'll admit, but these college players sometimes have trouble transitioning from college to NFL. Unfortunately, we seem to find these type of players.

some of the worst posts in while in here.
Coples will be fine, comparing to a one trick pony in Irvin who we never had a chance to draft... see what I mean and compare him to another guy in another scheme who plays more again in a different role.... Learn the sport before comparing players

I don't have film examples of last night, but there was a great example on this site from last week I believe. Ball was snapped and Wilk engaged his blocker. You could clearly see Scott behind Wilk manning the hole to his left. Wilk was between the LT and G. Gore looked to be going into Scott's hole and would have been dropped for a gain of 1 at most as Scott was there to make the easy tackle. Wilk saw the RB move towards Scott's hole, jumped over to that side of the defender to make the tackle himself. Gore saw this and immediately shifted to the hole that Wilk just vacated, and Scott was now out of position because he was already manning his original gap and did not anticipate Wilk leaving his responsibility. Gore had a huge run on the play. If Wilk stayed home Gore would have probably kept going toward Scott and gained a yard. If Wilk stayed home same result, maybe a yard or 2.

Watch the game last night and pay close attention to the draw plays and off tackle plays towards Wilk. Note the times you see both Wilk and the LB behind him penetrating the same gap when the one next to him is vacated. Those are WIlk's fault.
This has been a problem for Wilkerson (and many college stars); in college the best guys can make instinctive plays with their natural abilities. In the NFL everyone has those abilities and you must play assignment football; that runs counter to their instincts and must be coached/ learned somehow.

When we all wonder why Rex isn't playing his young guys more, this may be part of the reason. He doesn't trust them to understand/ execute their assignments (at least not as well as the vets). At some point they must and they'll play more.

Rex may not trust them because they have not EARNED his trust. They may not be capable mentally. Maybe they are stupid and can't absorb a playbook.
Logic say that if a player is good, he will play. At least in a regular rotation. Exception is QB.
Coples, Maybin, Davis. All labelled as superstars on this board. Eh.
And Wilkerson is not exaxtly Joe Greene. Ellis - he is a warm body.
THe personnel is just not good. And yet other teams can take eh players and make them decent.

Another great pick from the "BUST KINGS." It will take 3-5 years to fix what Tanny and Rex have done to this team," Thats if they are fired after this season.

We could have drafted Jones or Ingram.

Don't forget, word on the street was that Jones was the one that was supposed to be more of a project and might not be able to stand up to blocks until he got his upper body stronger.

If you consider the "experts" experts, Jones wasn't expected to flash this early. Now, it's pretty clear that this is the guy BB wanted but if the Jets took Jones, the Pats might have taken Coples for all we know. It's not an exact science.

Rah Rah, its always--they need a year to learn the defensive scheme. Like the previous anointed one---Wilkerson who has gone backwards. What about someone just having the natural ability to beat an offensive lineman one on one and get to the quarterback?

This is yet another instance where a Tannenbaum draft pick is a no show.
