More and more it looks like Woody could be a problem

A good executive hires the right people to do the job and then has the common sense to let them do their jobs. If they don't perform he can always show them the door but when the owner, who knows business but not football, gets too involved it could spell a lot of problems.

It's obvious now that getting Tebow was Woody's idea and now he is saying that Tebow will be with the team for another 3 years ? The Jets have a lot of needs but signing Tebow is NOT going to address any of those needs even at QB. I can only imagine what Rex and Tanny are going through trying to contain the media and now an owner who wants to get too involved. What Woody has to understand is that the way to sell tickets is by putting a good team on the field not gimmicks in PR.

Tebow is probably our best offensive weapon and he sits on the bench. I like it cause I want to end up 2-14 this year and putting sanchez out there every week only helps that cause.

Once this coaching staff smartens up and starts tebow, then we are in trouble as we will start to win games.

Keep tebow on the bench!

Pretty obvious..... the Favre trade was our 1st indication. Woody is Leon Hess in the making.

1. Woodys own father did not turn J&J over to him.

2. In his whole life he has never run a company before, let alone an NFL franchsie. He also did not grow up in football, aspire to run an NFL team, or play or coach the game. All he has done in his life is be born into money.

3. He has hired 1 ONE football person during his entire tenure with the team, Terry Bradway. After he didnt work out as GM, he didnt even fire him, he demoted him, and installed a finance person as GM. When Joey Clinkscales left, he again didnt bring anyone in - simply promoted someone from within.

4. We have not had a VP or Director of Football Operations since Parcells left, therefore there is no single employee in between Woody (no football knowledge) or Tannenbaum (no scouting experience) or Rex (no prior personnel experience).

5. We have ZERO identity as an organization. We shoot for stopgap veterans over stockpiling draft picks. We do not value character when drafting for deciding on FAs. We treat draft choices as fantasy draft picks - ie John Connor. All of which has resulted in our locker room lacking leadership for the past 2 years.

Good NFL franchises have a plan/process that starts from the top down. Our owner cares more about Mitt Romney and lower taxes for his fortune then he does about winning a SB. That pretty much says everything we need to know.

Agree with all you say except #1. His father couldn't turn the company over to Woody because his father was FIRED by his grandfather after working for the company 20+ years and being incompetent.
Runs in the family relative to management.

Good Owners role

Buy the team
Hire a good GM
Hire a good coach
Pay the bills
Shut up
Pose with the Lombardi trophy and then immediately shut up again

Oh, I didnt know the incompetance was generational.

I just never knew how little business or more importantly management experience woody had before taking over the team.

You mean like the receivers he'd actually be playing with now?

And besides Tebow miraculously inspires and lifts everyone else around him on his mighty shoulders and makes them better players. So in reality he was actually playing with 1's and 2's in preseason

I would love to make a donation to that.....its the best way for us to reach him.

I dont care if he owns the team, we cant tell someone what to do with their money, but if we threaten to stop buying merchandise until he hires a Football Operations person, then that will get his attention.

Easier said than done. Look at all us opinionated jerks on this forum. If we were all owners do you not think we might not feel like poking our noses in where they don't belong?

If your front office does a good job you have no owner problems. If they suck the owners start 'musing'.

He's turning into Jerry Jones except Jones has his son and Woody has his wife to talk football.
