40+ Passes vs the Patriots
So looking at what the Pats have done so far this year, here are the passing yardage totals they have given up in the last 4 games:
Fitzpatrick 350 yards Peyton 337 Yards Flacco 382 Yards Wilson 293 Yards After watching the game yesterday, the weakness the Pats D has is the deep pass that results in some big plays. Im sure a lot of this is on their secondary, their defense (even with the vaunted Chandler Jones) has only managed 11 sacks on the season. After seeing his performances vs Miami, Houston and SF, Im sure there are few people who want to put Sundays game in Sanchez’s hands, but that is what will give us the best opportunity to win. There is no doubt that the Pats are gonna put up points on us, so hoping that our defense plays great and the offense plays OK, is probably not the recipe we need. We will be putting arguably our best offensive personnel of the year on the field Sunday. A healthy Keller and Hill, each with a game under their belt to get back up to speed, is a HUGE difference from the unit we put out there vs SF and Houston. Furthermore, our rushing performance yesterday should at least force the Pats to put some resources towards stopping the run (although I highly doubt Belichick suddenly thinks we are a running force after one good performance). If we can protect sanchez with 5 lineman and 1 RB or TE staying in to block, I think there will be opportunities to hit some big plays down the field, and hopefully put some points on the board. |

Hopefully the Pats will spend the week working on their pass defense and that will weaken their run stopping ability. If we can open some holes for Greene early, that will open up the deep pass later in the game. We are not built to throw 40 times a game with this set of WRs.

Hill is a legitimate big play threat. Im not putting him in the HOF by any means, but simply based on his size/speed he HAS to be accounted for by the defense. Kerley has shown he is more then capable of getting open and doing something with the ball once he catches it. Chaz has been servicable and getting keller back in the fold is a nice upgrade at TE. This game is gonna come down to whether or not sanchez can hit the 2-3 passes he missed vs the steelers and Texans. If he can, we should be in this game...if he cant, we all know what the outcome will be. |

the jets have done a much better job with the long passes this yr, so I would expect they might hit at least one or two long ones sunday. Prior to yest games sanchez was 4th in yds in air/per pass attempt at 9.7.
S. Hill looked good yesterday so hope he has a big game over the top of the D and then have kerley, chaz, and keller work the middle and underneath. |

All he has to do is throw it deep and get the ball in the general vicinity. Our dumbass DB's, will have their back to the ball and get flagged for PI.

Yards are such an overrated statistic.
Irrelevant of yards, Pats D are still ranked better than Jets in points allowed, which is not saying much but is what ultimately counts. Jets D is just as sorry this year. Pats have allowed 22.8 points per game. Jets 23.5 So both teams allow roughly same amount of points, but it's going to ultimately come down to who puts up more points. Yards, won't be on the final scoreboard. |

The Pats are going to take away Greene and the running game and dare Sanchez to beat them. Hard to know where Mark is right now, he had some nice throws yesterday, but didn't need to do much. This has mostly been a forgettable season for him and a stinker next week will start up the Tebow talk all over again. He knows he needs a bigtime game to give himself some rope for the rest of the season.

Yards is overrated but for a different reason..
In a few of those scenarios, New england was ahead by a good deal so they opposing team was in a postiion where they were going to throw pretty regularly. And New England was going to be cautious with 2 deep so they are going to give up completions. |

Mark just has to look for the word "ARRINGTON" and throw in that direction. Regardless of what happens after that, it will move the chains.

Yardage was simply used as an example that the NE defense struggles vs the pass.
This game is falling on sanchez's shoulders and I think its a good thing that he kind of flew under the radar against the colts. Hopefully he can keep a clear head, face minimal tebow questions, and have a good week of practice with his core guys this week |

Rice is better than anyone we have active right now, and Tate is barely a notch below JK. And comparing TE is rough due to DK's inability to get on the field this year. But again, the premise here is very well stated. It's Sanchez or lose on Sunday. |

Pass? Kiss of death. The last 4 games, the Patriots have played against decent QBs. Sanchez is not one of them.
They ran the ball against Indy and controlled the pace. Plus burned clock. Need to do that against the Pats. Yes, the patriots have a weak pass D. Since when do the Jets have a good pass O. Get greedy and stupid=lose. |

The colts are allowing 159 yards rushing per game. Passing isnt being greedy, it is playing to the advantage that you have. Sure, in theory grinding down the clock and keeping the ball away from brady is a good idea, but in practice it doesnt work. The Pats can score just as many points with 25 mins of possession as they can with 35, so keeping the ball away from brady isnt gonna work if we cant score ourselves. Also, are ryan fitzpatrick and rookie russel wilson really that great? Fitzpatrick, who sucks btw, put up 350 and 4tds, the problem was he threw 4picks and the Bills defense was awful. We have to be able to throw the ball to win, bottom line, and Sunday is a perfect example of why. |

Stop the insanity.
Throw the ball. Trust me. If its not a reception it will be a flag. Its the Keystone Kops back there. If EVER Sanchez had a chance to look good, this is the week. |

You can run on them. The Jets can run. Sanchez still is one of the worst passers in the league. Let him hand off and pass once in a while. Don't screw things up by being cute. Or thinking more than you are. That's when thing get fouled up. |

Prior to yesterday, I would say the Pats want to stay in their base defense (with variations) but not nickel against most teams. That way, they can prevent the run and make most qbs try and get in a shootout with Brady.
After yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats come out in more nickel and dime and give up running yards instead. That secondary is pitiful... Every time the ball goes down the field, it's got a 75% shot of being caught.... |

Pats are 6th against the run, 28th against the pass.
Chung and Gregory are hurt. This isn't rocket science. |
