Last year, just as the Jets got the running game on track, they faced a struggling New England team at home and had Sanchez air it out in hopes of exploiting their weak secondary.
Folks, we can't win like that. We need to run the ball to set up play-action opportunities for Mark. We are not going to win games with him airing it out, regardless of the opponent. We win by establishing the run and by playing defense. Let's not delude ourselves into thinking otherwise. This game only gets won if we can run well enough to establish play action, and if Mark converts those opportunities. |

Sparano has to do a good job keeping Brady and the Pats O on the sideline. But also has to mix in some "design chunk plays" as well. |

Sanchez just needs to throw it. Seriously, just toss it up. It's more likely to end well for the Jets than the Pats.

+1. Deep down, I think the long-term answer is Dennard and Dowling at corner and McCourty and Wilson at safety with Moore as the nickel back. Or perhaps not -- practically every other combination has been an unmitigated disaster. Too bad, because for the first time in recent years, the Pats have an above-average front 7. The putrid secondary is absolutely KILLING the Pats right now. If Holmes, Cotchery and Edwards were still the WR's, I think Sanchez would go well over 400 yds. Even without that crew, he should have a field day next week. |

Excellent point.
Belichick had six years of the exact same short passing offense on tape that he needed to yet again shut us down. One interesting thing....Peter king mentioned that wilson had a lot of success rolling right and throwing on the move vs NE. Hopefully we use a similar strategy as sanchez is usually pretty good rolling out. Would love to see the play call he missed vs the steelers run for Kerley instead of holmes this time. |

The OP is 110% wrong on this one. The Jets have tried the "air it out" approach in Foxboro before. It usually results in a convincing Pats victory. Getting into a shootout against Tom Brady in Foxboro with Mark Sanchez is an atrocious plan. That is a Schitty gameplan, exactly what New England hopes for. Run the ball, run it again, make the game ugly, and then try to hit them over the top with the big play only when at midfield or further. Not backed up in our territory.... Jets NEED to have the Running Game working to give Mark a shot in the Playaction.....that's the only way the Jets have a shot at making a game of this. |

Sanchez is just want the Patriots secondary needs. I predict 3 ints from our "franchise" QB this week.

Just throw it. Find out if you have a real QB or not. Don't do the Wildcat crap, run a little bit, and do play action pass and bootlegs, and run some spread and do that. |

The Pats had a terrible secondary last year as well and we failed to exploit it.16 and 20 completions in the 2 games, 65 total attempts. The Jets MUST go deep on them early in the game. We can't have their suspect DB's jumping all of our short routes.

Jets recipe for success:
1- run the ball 2- play good defense 3- solid fake punting 456- Mark Sanchez needs to put the offense on his back and win the game. So in order to beat the pats, we have to option 456? Geez. |

Short passing and running played right into what NE did well, that is why we struggled. When we throw it needs to be down the field, to get the safeties working deeper and THEN run. |
