Belichick raves about Tebow's value.

He goes on and on....

Quote:
"They've pretty much used him at every spot. He's played more quarterback than anything else, but he's also played running back, I would say tight end, he's also played a little bit of receiver," Belichick said of Tebow’s offensive duties. "They put him in some different spots. When he's the quarterback, he's the quarterback, he can run, he can throw, he can run the option, he can run their regular offense. They can run Tebow-type plays that Denver ran last year, or that (offensive coordinator Tony) Sparano ran when he was in Miami."

"He gives them a lot of versatility in all of those things," Belichick noted. "He doesn't always line up at quarterback when he's in there on offense, so you have to be ready to deal with him at other positions as well. He's a good runner, he's a strong runner, very strong. He's mobile in the pocket, (a) smart player, he can do a lot of different things. Different option plays and things like that, so you certainly have to be aware of him when he's in there."

"And in the kicking game, he's dangerous because of the versatility, but it's really no different than any other punting situation in that you have to cover the eligible receivers," he said. "You have to be alert for them to snap the ball to the personal protector, and whether he ends up on a sweep or however they do it, those are things that you have to prepare for every week with your punt return unit.

"The fact that it's him and he's a big strong guy who's a good runner and can throw the ball makes it -- he can do a little bit more than a lot of guys that are back there," Belichick continued. "But at the same time, those are the kind of things you have to prevent every week. Whoever's responsibility it is to cover the guy has got to cover. If they run it, then we have to have our gaps controlled."

"Absolutely, there's really no question about it," he said. "We saw him play last year. He quarterbacked that team to the playoffs, Denver. In addition some to the quarterbacking things, he's done a lot of other things with the Jets, so, yeah, of course he's a valuable guy."

Honestly though I could see Tebow being a Patriot sooner or later.

He is everything Bill wants in a player. If you like Tebow as a slash guy, and were willing to develop him as a Hback type that was the perfect landing spot as Brady is cemented there and would never had controversy.

Bill Belicheck is the Devil so I doubt Tebow wants to play up there.

Mostly meaningless coaches chatter. This is what he tells his team and it happens with each opposing player. you go over the oppositions strengths with your team and plan how to neutralize it. Nothing big here. Obviously they will prepare for fake punts, wildcat etc. They don't want to be burned by a new use of Tebow. But they do this type of preparation for every player on the opponents team. Every team does it. Analyze the player's strengths and game plan against it.

You know how much emphasis BB places on player's versatility.

I could see him eventually ending up on the Pats some day.

Good thing would be that McDaniels already schooled Tebow on the "patriot way" while in Denver.

The Patriot way of course being the "cheating" way, good old Josh busted out the handy video camera while there. Classic.

Basically he's letting the Jets know he has watched everything Tebow's done and that he wont be taken by surprise, almost hoping the Jets will go oh sh*t and hold him back.

But the Patriots know that the Jets will hold him back, so they will prepare for that contingency. But the Jets will know that the Pats suspect they will be saying "Oh Sh!t" and preparing for the Jets to hold him back, so they will go all out Tebow.

So I clearly can't choose the glass in front of you.

Jets will not do anything with Tebow they have already done, especially a fake on 4th down. Pats will be prepared for all that stuff that is on film.

For Tebow to be effective Sunday, Jets must use him in a different role/capacity that hasn't been seen yet.

True, to an extent. If you're talking about the trick/gimmick plays, yeah, we probably won't see those again. At least of the "pass to Bellore" types.

But, we certainly will see direct snaps to Tebow with both the triple option packages as well as the spread where he simply uses the numbers game (in the blocking context) and drives forward. Irrespective of whether you've seen that on tape, you still have to make the tackle and stop him.

And on the 4th and 2 punt fakes, those are essentially a numbers game as well....with a 250lb FB coming at you. There doesn't need to be that much of a seam for him to bull his way for a first down. A

nd on punt formations, you cannot line a defensive player over Center. I'm guessing that helps a bunch when snapping it to the protector and having him rush straight ahead for the short pickup. Even if you suspect its coming, its difficult to stop. I'm sure that advantage is not lost on Westy.

After reading what BB has to say, the Jets should double his salary and start him.
