It's 6 weeks into their first years.

Again, how great did McCourty look in his first year? What happened?

Let's wait and see how these guys progress.

No. If the Jets had wanted him over Coples, they would have picked him.

Seriously????

Tanny is the worst player evaluater in the entire NFL.

Just look at the Jets last 3 drafts.

Even a broken clock is right sometimes. And, if you listen to Rex, Coples was his pick.

I like both players. Coples may have some issues, but he does have some rare skills too. Both guys have the potential.

he is pretty bad, but 2 things:
1. they play 2 different positions
2. can we please wait at least 2 years before we jump off the bridge?

I think it's more clear and fair to say that if the Jets ran a 4-3 they would have taken Jones. They run a 3-4 and so they took Coples.

Tanny does suck - but I don't think that has been a big issue in the first round, where most players have upside. I think it's been a bigger issue on the second day of the draft.

Sanchez
Gholston

That's two pretty big misses.

Ferguson was no great pick either, but not a bust.

Brick no great pick?? Watcha talkin bout Willis?? Brick was one of the top-rated LT in the game for several years running, and almost right from the start.

Sanchez isn't great but he's not a bust. A bust is Ryan Leaf.

Ghost was the only huge miss. But like I am saying - these few first rounders haven't hurt the Jets nearly as much as the vastly larger number of middle-round picks that have failed to produce front-line depth.

btw - OT - did you catch Celebration Day last week?

Sanchez was a #6 overall draft pick.

Four years into his NFL career, he is consistently in the bottom 10% of all QB's in completion percentage, YPA, QB rating and turnovers.

He is an absolute bust for a #6 overall draft pick.

You are free to have your personal opinion of course, but you won't find his name on any list of draft busts anywhere. So the crowd-sourced historical opinion of him has nothing to do with your own Chowd-sourced opinion. 4 road playoff victories - that's the play that matters. Terry Bradshaw was an All-Star with 1800 yards passing one season. Sanchez is no bust.

And wasn't it you who was touting him out of USC before the Jets picked him?

Really?

Ras A Downling? Shane Vereen? Tavon Wilson? Mcourty? Jermaine Cunningham?

Gronk and hernandez were great picks, aside from them you shouldnt be criticizing another teams ability to evaluate college players.

Coples' ceiling is way higher than Jones. Waayy higher.

Jones was a natural easy fit for his position and it's not surprising to see early production from him, but as the years go bye, Coples will be the better NFL product.

Are you kidding me. 30 other NFL teams can talk trash about Tanny and his drafting. New England is NOT one of those 30 teams.

It's a incredible the Pats missed on so many picks considering they were averaging over 10 a year. It's statistically improbable to be a dumb as Bellidick was with his selections.

Coples was projected as a top 10 pick by most analysts. Jones was projected at end of first beginning of second primarily because he was considered a one dimensional pass rusher not so good against the run

If the Jets had taken Jones at 16 it would have been derided by the media and our JI "realists" as a huge bad reach by Tannenbaum

Funny, Jones has been a solid pass rusher and run defender. Coples was ranked higher because he was supposed to be finished product while Jones was raw and a year or away from reaching his potential.
