Had two drinks at dinner 4 hours b4 the mandatory checkpoint, so clearly I was completely sober.

I was honest with them and told them that. Because of that they made me do a field sobriety test. I obviously passed, but it still was one of the most nerve racking experiences of my life.

32, I appreciate what you guys do overall, but damn I hate you guys sometimes.

I would never defy an officer like that, even if that what I was thinking.

Yeah I know, it could be looked at as a bad move I told them I was drinking. But 2 drinks 4 hours ago isnt a big deal, so I just wanted to be honest. I had nothing to hide. Looking back though, If I told them I hadn't I do think they would have just let me go...idk though.

It's the ones who deny drinking at all who rouse suspicion. Honesty is the best policy (unless, of course, you're s-faced).

Definitely. If you told them you had a drink last week, they'd breathalyze you. Generally a good rule of thumb with the fuzz- never give them or admit to anything. While I do respect and appreciate the work the good ones do,
they most certainly aren't on your side.
To them, you're part of their quota.

(Not defending drinking and driving by any means here btw)

Edit: I shoulda emphasized on the "generally" part

I'm gonna disagree with this, and then bail on this thread. :grouphug:

So you're saying you hate the police in hushed tones really. I refuse to answer any of their questions when I'm sober. I'm always sober now. I have fun at checkpoints they ask if I been drinking tonight. I ignore the question and go into detailed analysis of liver damage due to years of alcohol total abuse. I get the dumb frown and the all clear disgusted hand wave to drive off.

In the future, don't say you were drinking. Even if you had one
