If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own.... I'm always struck by people who think, "Well, it must be because I was just so smart" -- there are a lot of smart people out there. "It must be because I worked harder than everybody else" -- "let me tell you something, there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

Who even talks like this?! And who are these people he's always struck by? Are they works of fiction like the imaginary girlfriend he had in college?

As a liberal on many issues and a conservative on economic issues I don't see why this election matters very much to either side? You have a moderate Republican running against what is going to be a lame duck President who doesn't want to get out in front of issues and lead on the things that really matter to liberals.

Seems to me one of the least important elections of my lifetime in terms of real policy differences.

You couple that with a divided Congress and I don't see why anyone sees this either way as a win for any particular POV. This is not Reagan Vs. Mondale. This is Lib light vs Conservative Light.
