Jays/Marlins blockbuster deal

As a Jays fan, i'm excited for this trade. I think we may finally contend next year.

This hasn't been confirmed yet, but the story is the Jays will receive Jose Reyes, John Buck, Mark Buerhle, Josh Johnson, and E.Bonifacio in exchange for A.Hechavarria, Yunel Escobar, Henderson Alvarez and Nicolino.

Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS

Blockbuster is agreed to. Reyes, buehrle, johnson, buck go to blue jays. Hechevarria and others to marlins, once finalized.

Marlins sure are putting up the dough for players in that new stadium, for a whopping half a season

Marlins are a disgrace. It's a damn travesty the public was bamboozled into paying for that stadium.

The fans are going nuts down here. After Fidel Castro,Jeffrey Loria is the most hated man in South Florida..wow

Shame it's a really nice stadium...which the city paid for

These are the kind of things that makes it hard for me to defend baseball...my second favorite sport. Selig needs to step in if possible

There's rumbling that we may go after Josh Hamilton now.

I'm not a fan of signing him....that dude is too volatile and isn't worth the big contract.

lol what a joke of a franchise.

Florida just needs to get rid of all their pro teams, they serve no purpose what so ever.

I would too, if there were any.

This is the kind of trade you'd make with the dumbest kid in your fantasy league... or at least try to sneak it by without it getting voted down by the rest of the league. Baseball sucks.

Alex Anthopolous went from useless turd to the toast of Toronto in mere minutes of this trade being announced.

isnt the whole point to dump salary? why the hell would they now spend money on getting an over the hill, underproductive Arod? just because he is from the area? doubt it...they just gave up Reyes who was probably as popular in the latin american community.

if they didnt just get a new stadium built last year, contraction would be a topic being discussed right now

I really doubt it.

MLB has no problem with absolutely inept organizations continuing on. See KC, Pittsburgh, etc.

If they get rid of all the players, aren't they contracting themselves?

This is what's wrong with baseball. Everyone yells at the Yankees for spending too much, but what about the Marlins, who will receive money from teams like Boston and NY to run a AA-AAA team out there.
