I can guarantee you the unnamed source came from long ago, if they even exist at all. I know someone who works for SNY and has dealt with Manish regularly in the past. Said he's one of the most underhanded people he ever met. Wouldn't put it past Mehta to completely fabricate this story and only use Slauson's preseason quote as his "evidence". If you notice Mehta's tweets defending himself not once does he even mention that the quote from Slauson came in the preseason.

Mort thinks it's bush league...Most Jets fans took what Mehta said as fact. For whatever reason, Jets fans seem ready to jump on any negative press about their team...I don't get it

I should also mention he said that he wouldn't doubt Mehta's "starters" could be past players with an axe to grind.
