Yeah, gravy taste like garbage with the taste and smell of meats in it for hours on end, I much prefer a canned tomato dumped right on my meal, like pizza.

Says the Pole. Open invite to swing by and have my wife's cooking change your mind.

Well, I am 1/2 Italian (from my late Mom, a 1st generation Italian-American from Belleville and a fine cook) and half Polish. (I make myself offers I can't refuse)

Married an Italian-American woman whose parents were Italian who cooks up a storm (as did her Mom), with of many of her and her mother's recipes much different from my Mom's.(My mom's meatballs for example) I dabble in the margins with things like Tiramisu.

I typically self-identify as Italian for many reasons (could be my olive skin) although my surname is not Italian.

"Gravy" in reference to Sauce is a dirty word in my house then and now and never to be uttered lest we be thought of as a bunch of "finokes"

Well maybe that's too harsh but we never called Italian style Sauce of any variety anything but "sauce".

S'alright, 1/4 Pole myself. But my 1/2 Italian, 1/2 Irish wife cooks an amazing gravy, so I tend to go a bit overboard in defending it.

No wonder you look European, you are a veritable continent

(except when you're incontinent)

When your mom, sister, wife etc. can cook it can really spoil you

What I loved in my Moms sauce and love in my wife's is the Fond/residue at the bottom of the pan
