You're looking at it the wrong way. Those two seasons were the flukes, not these two. Remember that '09 was really 8-8 and no playoffs if Peyton Manning doesn't sit at halftime in Indy. And 2010 was as flukey and bizarre a year as I've seen in Jets history. Much credit to Rex and the staff for winning those playoff games, but he did it in spite of the talent not because of it. This year and last year (and '07 and '08) are the true indicators of the Mike Tannenbaum legacy.

The next coach will get a grace period honeymoon after inheriting this mess.

11 players who are starters (plus other B/Us) are going to need to be replaced this off season with less than 17 mill of cap room (after cutting) of which 6 mill will be going to the rookies. The starting qb needs to be brought back from the dead. The best WR is a **** bird getting paid 2X his value.

This mess, when healthy is a playoff calliber team in terms of talent

Next year, the players on IR and who have been in and out of the line-up all year return.

The one true area on the team that needs a rebuild is at LB, there is no question that will happen this off-season with the players that the Jets have making a lot of money at the position and will be FA cuts, Pace, Scott, and age in Thomas. The only players returning will be Harris, Davis, Mauga, and probably Sapp. It will be a complete rebuild.

The team will probably draft a RB, tweak the OL, and will tweak in the secondary again probably at S and depth at CB.

Sanchez is coming back for another year, and I wouldn't be surprised if the team moves Tebow.

Fans love to cry fire everybody and break up everything and rebuild from scratch, it just isn't realistic, nor is it neccessary with this team.

Chupa pretty much nails it, this team has been doomed from the start when it lost its two best players, and with all of the other injuries. They already went into the season with a plan to transition youth and play in certain areas of the team with inexperience and growing pains, that plan was impacted bigtime by injuries.

Fans and the media can cry all they want, this regime gets another year to recover, and that is what SHOULD happen, because of OP in this thread.

Funny, the "one true area" that has needed a rebuild for 7 years is the pass rush, which includes the LBs since the last two coaches played a 3-4. There was "no question" that was going to happen in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. Keep putting your faith in the dynamic duo of Tanny/Bradway and I'll see you at Super Bowl 497.

The Jets injuries have not impacted them "big time". Why is it every other team can over come injuries, but the Jets lose their WR and CB and the season is lost??

When the team is set up at the WR to transition to youth, ie. Hill and Kerley, but have Holmes on the team to help lead the unit, and they lose Holmes early, that's big.

And it's not just the loss of Revis and Holmes.

The TE position has been in flux all year, so has RB with injuries to depth beyond Greene, that was equally as big. It started in camp when they lost Baker, I'm convinced he was going to be a big part of the offense. They had to replace their start FB due to ineffectiveness with a guy on the waiver wire.

What other teams have overcome injury that you're referring to?

Lose a player the calliber of Revis, that has a huge impact to the confidence and swagger of a team, it is the same if the Pats lose Brady, we will soon see it in Pittsburgh with the loss of Rothlesberger. We saw it last year with the loss of Schaub in Houston.

Sanchez hasn't progressed like we were all hoping and expecting, and much of that has been due to continuous roster turnover and now injuries this year at all 3 skill position areas on the team and at various layers of depth.

The difference between good organizations (winners) and bad organizations (losers) is this.

Good orgs get to the afc championship or the superbowl, do not win it and are unhappy and feel like they have failed. They realistically identify weak areas and vow to correct them.

Bad teams get to the afc championship, lose it and then point to it as some kind of large accomplishment that should give the team leeway for years to come.

As for the 'I'm as mad as all of you about it.' comment, no I don't think you are.

It knows it's not getting the real thing anymore, so drooling over internet porn is the next best thing, but that's about it.

I stopped reading your dribble right there.

You are truly delusional.

Many of us said before the season started how lacking in talent this team was. That was BEFORE Revis and Holmes were injured.

You're actually going to start this up again after you got completely owned by over a dozen posters in another thread trying to "sell" the same BS?

^ This guy delivered more than two AFCCG's. Should Chargers, Browns and Chief fans show him loyalty?

The first AFCGG was total, sheer LUCK. You cannot argue that we had no business there and basically the mistakes by other teams played a bigger part in our success than our own skill.

The second was earned, but then completely BLOWN by an inept coach.

Don't let finishing 4th place be enough for you, Jets fans.

The thing is every team loses starters to injuries. We have been very lucky with injuries (or well trained ) the past three years. This year we have been banged up ,but still we only have lost 2 players for the season. Look at what the Ravens are doing to cope with injuries, how about the steelers. The magic of Rex is gone. Even with out Revis we should have a great defense this year. We have the talent.yet we are near the bottom of the league. Yes I could accept having a bad year if we were at least playing good defense. With a more even keel coach I might be leary of moving on ,like I did not want to fire Mangini. Guys like Schwartz in Detroit,Rex they are great for a few years then they burn a team out
