I didn't read everyone else's advice but here is mine.

I am divorced with a 24 year old son with my first wife and remarried with a 5 year old with my second wife.

I do agree that your kid comes first. But that doesn't mean you have to be married to his mother. Nothing worse for a kid than having his parents hate each other and live together because of some foolish notion that it's best for him.

My ex and I tried to reconcile because we thought it was best for my son. But it just didn't work. We decided that what was really best for him was to have two parents who loved him and respected each other.

We get along great and actually drove up together to his college's parents weekend.

You need to make a decision based on how you feel. Sounds like you were a doosh and drove her off. It could mean that it could work out again now that you are sober.

Keep your kid in mind but be sure to look out for you best interest and ultimately that will be in his best interest too.
