I always thought he would have been a great HC, better choices for the Jets than the last couple.

Unfortunately, his ongoing battle with cancer pretty much ruled him out.

Everyone knows the job of a ST coach (all of them) is particularly tough because they have to pick through the lineup to find the role players they need.

Even a guy like Westoff can only do so much with the overall lack of talent and athleticism on this roster.

+1, the whole post.

I wonder what he really thinks of Rex's act.

I don't wonder at all. He probably thinks Rex is a clown.

I agree. Not sure he would have made a great HC but I would have liked to see him get the opportunity.

You are spot on about the overall talent on the roster effecting STs. I have been telling people that all year.

Problem now with being a HC, you must be media savvy...always thought this hurt Westoff in getting a HC job

This is 100% correct.

The talent level on the Jets is a joke and then you have the HC in Rex making statements like this is the best talent level he has ever had!!!

I'd bet on it. The bolded comments make it clear he's done with the Jets no matter what. Why not go for a team he could help to a SB or two?

Kinda like any Head Coach who lucks his way into Tom Brady for the entirety of his career eh?

Bellichek without Brady never wins a single Super Bowl as a Head Coach.

In any event, Fire Rex, Hire The Cane (TM) as New Head Coach.

Thats the kind of rookie Head man I'm willing to give a shot to.

He's not dumb enough to be an analyst. He says too many smart, informed things to ever make it in that business. If he'd be willing to put aside his dignity and say outrageous things for attention, maybe he'd do well.

Perhaps he can take lessons from Bayless and SAS? Perhaps even that asshat Heath Derpans. Or, dare I say it?......Kriegel.

Why would he go to the Pasts? Their days of winning SBs are SOOOOO 2004. If he wanted to go somewhere that's fresh and is set for SBs, he'd look to go to San Francisco.

No chance he's back in NY next year, retired or not.
