He was saying, he was busy with the defense going on the field right away that he didn't get the chance to tell Sanchez first.
Probably told Sparano and he told him first.

Rex benched Sanchez. Sparano was the one to tell Sanchez because Rex was coaching the defense at the time.

Rex made the decision and told Sparano who then told Sanchez. Sparano needs to be the first to know for gameplanning reasons. In the heat of the game, there isn't time for players to get a sit down with the coach.

From Sanchez' post game conference, he seemed a little annoyed, but understood.
