Bellichick is a defensive genius and a lot of what he does doesn't make sense ... smh you guys view everything one sided.

What evidence do we have that Rex is a genius? He is a very good defensive coach, but what has he done to demand the title of genius?

[QUOTE=w0mbat;4714583Rex isn't without his faults but the main culprit of this mess is Tannenbaum.[/QUOTE]
Yes and no. Tanny is known to value the input of his coaches (as he should). He has the final say, but his head coach has a much bigger influence than we all probably think. In Tanny's first three years (with Mangini as the coach), he improved the roster greatly. He had two good drafts ('06 was arguably a great one). He made some excellent trades (Jenkins, and Thomas Jones). Since Rex came in the talent has slowly gone downhill. The team has drafted poorly, and doled out some terrible contracts. He made two good trades (Cromartie and Braylon), but also some bad ones (Holmes). Then he compounded the Holmes move by giving him a bad contract. So basically: 2006-2008: Very good, to excellent personnel management. 2009-2010: Poor personnel and cap management Tanny is the common denominator for both time spans. The head coaches were different. Therefore it can be argued that Rex is just as much, if not more, to blame for mismanaging the personnel. |

Well he says he is.... Getting where he has gotten this defense without a dynamic pass rusher is nothing short of a miracle. A QB and pass rusher is something he hasn't had here. I would have loved to see what a healthy Farve could have done here in 09.

Actually Tanenbaum got us out of that situation and with Mangini was able to assemble a decent team. Poor drafting and poor investments in players (Holmes) have hurt us since then.
