Norv Turner To Be Fired At End Of Season
per Rotoworld
Union Tribune San Diego Team sources tell the Union-Tribune San Diego Chargers owner Dean Spanos plans to fire both coach Norval Turner and GM A.J. Smith at season's end. According to long-time Chargers reporter Kevin Acee, Spanos has "resigned himself to the fact that Smith can't be kept in the current environment of plummeting performance and fan unrest," and that plans to can both Turner and Smith are "already in motion." Spanos was widely expected to replace his football brain trust last season, but had a last-minute change of heart. Per Acee, "it seems certain" that will not be the case this time around. Spanos is reportedly planning to replace Smith with current Chargers Director of Player Personnel Jimmy Raye. |

I honestly would take them both. Turner as OC and AJ smith as GM. Smith built some powerhouse teams over there and I think he is a better talent evaluator than Tanny. I don't think he would get along with Rex, but that is ok with me

I don't want the Chargers fail-combo anywhere near this team. Give me proven winners or guys with no track record at all. Proven losers will undoubtedly lose again.

NORV OR BUST!!!!!!!!! As an OC, of course.
Give him 100% control of the offense, playcalling and let him decide what to do with Sanchez. |

Norv Turner would be a great OC if we can get him! At this point any GM (and I think AJ Smith could definitely fix our offensive problems) would be better than Tanny at this point. Let Tanny work his magic with the contracts and get a real talent evaluator her to build the team.

Chargers offense has been top 5 since he's been there, bring him on for OC. |

Jets need to find bright new minds for their coaching staff, not retreads who built their reputations 2 decades ago and have coasted off past success for far too long. |

Norm's had some great offenses until this year. Still ok and Rivers turning the ball constantly doesn't help, but if coaches are changing for the Jets, give me an up and comer. grab a guy from college, that's where all the creative minds are anyway

Even if Rex stays on board, Sparano should be one and done. And Norv would easily be my first choice for new OC. And who knows? Maybe he vouches for one of his former QB's like Alex Smith or (fingers crossed) Philip Rivers. Supposedly San Diego is serious about a total overhaul, and there's a chance that Rivers could be available. In a weak draft with no real top end talent, would you trade a 1st for Rivers? I probably would |

My point about Sanchez also takes into account the money we owe him. If Turner says he wants a year with him then I would defer to his opinion. That is all I mean. Norv is one of many excellent coordinators who just could not be a HC. Just look at Wade Philips. He went back to being a coordinator and he completely turned around the Texans D. I think Norv will be successful once he returns to being a coordinator. |

He would take over for Sparano as OC. The guy is a brilliant offensive mind, he just isn't a HC. Norv could be to our offense what Wade Phillips was to the Texans defense. |
