+1

This is all for show. They are making it "appear" that they are considering every possible way to protect the health of the players. It's a recommendation and there's no way in hell it would pass.

At the end of the day, these guys are football players. They sign the waivers. They know the risks. This is to help make the NFL look good when that class action lawsuit by former players is ruled in favor of the players so the NFL wont be hit with a 2 billion dollar bill.

It takes away from the excitement of football? A KO return for a TD is just as exciting as a bomb or long run.

Let's not give the NFL too much credit. These guys don't care about the players. Be realistic here.

In my opinion [CONSPIRACY THEORY ALERT] the NFL is trying to do anything it can to eliminate injuries because it's throwing their advertising marketing out of whack. The injuries make the game length unpredictable which is a monetary concern. At the end of the day, the NFL likes to know exactly what it has so they can sell the advertising appropriately. When there are game interruptions and injuries it makes the product unappealing to the fan and the corporations but it also is a huge loss of money as well. And before you ask, no I really don't believe any of this sh!t I just typed. This is really all about the lawsuits they are facing that could cost them billions of dollars in medical bills and quality of life settlements.

Goodell doesn't have a thing to say about the rules. He can not change anything. This would be put on an agenda (perhaps) and go to the competition committee and then go to a vote of the owners. It would need a 3/4 vote to pass. If 75% of the owners want it, then THEY changed things, not Goodell.
The concussion thing is real though. Some rules changes are necessary. Start with better helmets. Another $250 per helmet would be a start.
Plus hit with your helmet or to a helmet - expulsion ($50,000 fine) + one game suspension w/o pay. Controlled from the booth and with replay.

How is it more exciting than a punt return for a TD? Whats more exciting? An onsides kick or a 4th down conversion? Excitement is probably the worst argument to be made against the proposal.

"Suprise" onsite kickoffs recovered at high percent rate (over 50%) and thus screwing overall rate. Rate for "last minute" kickoffs is much lower.

Schiano came up with this. Makes the game safer. Can make better use of roster. I for one wouldn't miss it.

Old Rog continues to ruin the game.

I say in 5 years.Kickoff's gone.3 point stance gone.Illegal to hit receivers over the middle.Scores will be 55-50.

At least I have baseball. Will start watching more NBA as well.

That would be changing the sport entirely. Special teams has been a part of the game since it was created.
