Lions are dysfunctional, too!
Say what you want about the Jets "circus", the Lions are worse. Off the field, too -- they have multiple dudes getting arrested. What's worse, is they have some serious talent and they can't get it together. Schwartz's seat has got to be one of the hotter ones in the league (save for Norv).
From NFL.com: Another day, another person bashing Detroit Lions third-year defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. This time it wasn't an anonymous general manager, an opposing player or a media member. This time it was a teammate. "Yeah, we're loaded," an anonymous Lions player told Yahoo! Sport's Jason Cole after Sunday's 35-33 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. "But we have a couple of guys who don't understand what it takes to win. Just making a couple of plays and thinking that makes you great ... sometimes you want to just shake some of these guys and say, 'Don't you get it?' " When asked to name one of those teammates, the player responded: "Ndamukong [Suh] would be first." Suh has been embroiled in controversies this past year ranging from traffic citations, to his sister's tweets, to midair ninja kicks to the groin. He has become a microcosm of the 2012 Lions' disappointment: tons of talent, lacking composure and mental toughness. Suh's play has improved from a disappointing sophomore season after inflated statistics his rookie year put the spotlight on his broad shoulders. Few have noticed. It's not his strong play up the middle -- disrupting the pocket, taking on double teams and allowing fellow defensive tackle Nick Fairley to have a Pro Bowl-type season -- that has people talking. It's his boneheaded lapses. "He's focused for 90 percent of the time," a teammate told Cole. "But it's the 10 percent that kills you...With [Suh], he loses his cool and all of a sudden we're blowing a play or dealing with some controversy. When stars act like that, everybody else thinks it's OK to act like that. It's like with kids. You let one get a little out of control, the other one does the same thing pretty quick. It's human nature." |

So this is supposed to make us feel better about our franchise? We suck from top to bottom, I could give a #$% who else sucks along with us.
And its a cycle that is never ending. If reports are true, we are about to demote our 2nd GM. Nobody else in the league demotes GM's. We take garbage and recycle it within our organization. And on top of that Rex could stay. So right there it tells you we won't be getting a real GM. No real GM is coming here without being able to put together his own guys. We suck and its much of the same garbage for the last 40 years. What's really depressing is the fact we can easily look at this team now and realize things will be bad for at least the next couple years. F the Lions!!! Let's worry about our own suckiness! |

it was just an attempt to talk many of you off the ledge. just a "it could be worse."
things can get turned around fast in this league. Look around the league, it can happen -- the 49ers, Texans, colts, Seahawks. it happens. and it can happen with the jets, despite what people think. |

the Jets apparently have the worst coaches, front office, QB, WRs, RBs, pass rush, etc., in the league and somehow they still win games. |

I was going to say, and both locked up for a decade (or at least, Stafford will be with an almost certain upcoming extension). In this league that's enough to build around and right the ship pretty quickly with the right changes.

I wish the Jets had more losses so they could get a higher draft pick. Can't wait to go into next year with Tebow and Sanchez, we will probably be division favorites.

the lions have had Stafford and Megatron for 4 and 6 seasons, respectively, and have what, 1 winning season? I'd say the Lions situation is worse than the Jets.

EDIT: Look at the other thread that was just made about the Raiders. Now go post in that thread so you can actually have an argument taking the Jets over the Raiders. Last edited by j3ts83; 12-07-2012 at 09:27 AM. |

tell me, what makes the Lions such a better situation than the Jets? The QB and the WR? a supposed great DLine that can't stop anyone? what is it? because over the past 4 seasons they have 22 wins. that tells me the situation isn't great

They have top tier talent at QB. That alone makes their situation massively better.

Exactly Megatron will go down as one of the best WR to ever play the game and the future looks very bright for Stafford in a QB league. If you don't have a QB your team is basically screwed. Oh... like the Jets.

I'm not arguing that the team doesn't have problems, i'm just saying I would love to be in the Lions situation going forward and I'll bet you 98% of this board would too, excluding rahrah
