The Jets Will Make The Playoffs if..

I just checked the schedules and came up with this - is it accurate?

a. they win their last three games;
b. eagles beat bengals this thursday night;
c. cowboys beat steelers one week from today;
d. bengals beat stellers the following sunday; and
e. ravens beat the bengals OR steelers lose to browns in Final weekend of season

Is this right?

there would be more than one permutation left at this point. it's not a dire situation, perhaps as high as a 10-15% shot.

No. If A-D happen we would control our destiny in week 17

Actually we win a 3 way tie, so we get in with winning out and a Cincy victory over Pitt and any other loss by Cincy. If Pitt beats Cincy, we need to either have Cincy win their other 2 games or Pitt to lose both. Mathematically a Cinci win Thursday might give us a very slightly better playoff chance than a loss.

We will make the playoffs if all of these things happen:

1-Jets win next 3 games
2-Pitt loses 2 of the next 3
3-Cincy loses 1 of the next 3 (we would have the same conference record but a better record against common opponents)

It's as simple as that.

Pitt plays @ Dallas, home vs. Bengals and Browns

Bengals play @ Philly, @ Pitt, home vs Ravens

We need to hope Pitt loses to Dallas and the Bengals. I don't think the Bengals will beat the Ravens the last game b/c the Ravens will probably be playing for a 2 seed and a bye.

If Indy loses out and the Jets win out, the Jets get in over Indy.

Yeah, lets hope the Jets make the playoffs so everything remains status quo. It's not like Rex or Tannenbaum need to be replaced

what makes me a Sanchez homer? That I root for the guy? That I root for my team to succeed?

Funny that we're dissecting usernames considering yours.

Making the playoffs and winning a playoff game are two very different things.

Unless we get to the SuperBowl, there is no point in getting in.
