Jets will have to pass more against Titans

The way things stack up between these two teams it seems even though the Jets want Mark Sanchez to be a game manager he will be called on to throw the ball more in this game. Here's the statistical match up:

Rushing Offense VS. Rushing Defense:

Jets offense is 26th in average yards per carry (3.8). Titans defense is 14th in average yards per carry allowed (4.2)

Titans offense is 6th in average yards per carry (4.7). Jets defense is 21st in average yards per carry allowed (4.4).

Advantage Titans: When they rush they will rush for more average yards than the Jets.

Passing Offense VS. Passing Defense:

Jets offense is 29th in average passing yards per game (201). Titans defense is 26th in average passing yards allowed (250).

Titans offense is 19th in average passing yards per game (241). Jets defense is 3rd in average passing yards allowed (196).

Advantage Jets: This seems to be an advantage for the Jets because the Titans should allow the Jets to pass for more yards than they average while the Jets defense will restrict the Tennessee passing game to less than it's average.

So it would seem that even though the Jets have placed Mark Sanchez in "game manager mode" they will have to let him pass more in this game to overcome the Tennessee rushing advantage. Either way this looks to be a close game and predicting the score before hand won't be easy.

Hmm... that's a very good question. That's why I'm a little uneasy about this game.

If its a close game then the Jets can stick to their "don't let Sanchez screw up philosophy" and eventually the Titans will give the game away. But if the Titans score first -which is a given - then Sanchez might have to put the ball up a bit more but to whom does he throw it to? This will not be an easy game.

Tenn is 23rd against the run. 127 against the run, so they should have success.. SD is 4th against the run, 92 yrds... Jets reality- looking up stats against teams against the Run.

And that's if he's pulled at the half. Remember, Butt-Boy is at his best on national TV.
