The film is called 'Downfall' and I'd recommend it along with Schindlers List as one of the handful of films absolutely everyone should watch at least once in their life(it"s in German but subtitled)

It's hard going though but Ganz is so good you will actually believe he IS Adolf Hitler.

I was crying. Maybe because the first time I saw it. Maybe Hitler is an insensitive character, but the subtitles are brilliant imo. My abs hurt

My mom grew u in Europe and as a young girl her town was occupied by the Nazis during WW2. Neighbors of hers were executed for being in the resistance. After the war she emigrated to the US. Now me, an American born kid, never knew hardship, thought Hogan's Heros was pretty funny. But my mom was mortally offended at it. The thing that offended her the most was the portrayal of the Germans as silly and benign Keystone cops. To her they were cold blooded murderers. And in fact, I think she was right. Not that we as Americans aren't capable of being bad guys.
