True. The best pass rusher in the league is far more valuable than the best CB in the league.

Trades almost never happen and this is one that doesn't make sense for Arizona on a number of levels.

For starters, there is too much ambiguity about Revis' contract.

Player for Player deals are exceedingly rare. The last big one I can recall is Portis and a Number 1 for Champ Bailey.

Don't get me wrong - I love Revis in a hated enemy sort of way and there's no question in my mind that he is the #1 CB in the league and somewhere in the top 10 all time even. But I just don't see it making sense for Arizona at all.

Yeah it will never happen. Substantial cap hits for both teams which is why trades in the NFL barely ever happen.

Much more realistic and helpful trade scenario would be Tebow to the Cards for a late rd pick. They have nothing at QB. At least Tebow gives them star power and excitement and as much as I think he's overrated I'd take him over Kolb/Skelton/Lindley any day of the week.

Revis has to prove himself again, and if he's looking for a Mario Williams' contract, he should be escorted out the door.

The Giants have proven repeatedly that a great pass rush is much more vital than having a shutdown corner.

Cro is at that level, anyway.

I'd rather keep Landry, even with the health risk, and have somebody who has some effect on the run as well as the pass.

More importantly: GET A QUARTERBACK. Kyle Orton for God's sake.

While I agree with you about pass rush being more important than coverage in today's NFL where pass interference penalties are through the roof I don't think the Jets are trading Revis.

There's a significant cap hit if the Jets trade Revis. Even with a torn ACL I think Revis will still be top 5 CB - I mean Jason Sehorn came back and played well for a couple years with the Giants and he was never anything close to the player Revis was and still probably is.

If he decides to hold out, then there's very little guaranteed money tied to him next year.

He can hold out all he wants. He won't be getting the paycheck he wants if he holds out and is signed two years off ACL surgery based off "workouts."

This is a great situation for the Jets. But it would be foolish for this team to offer him a damned thing higher than what he made on his prior contract and it would be stupid for him to hold out.

I agree. Jets have leverage in negotiations with Revis next off-season especially with Cromartie playing like an all-pro.
