Tebow still #2

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...icle-1.1217447

Quote:
A week ago, Ryan said he was considering Greg McElroy for the starting quarterback job.

On Sunday, McElroy sat, inactive behind an injured Tim Tebow. Ryan insists that Tebow is the second-string QB when healthy, although Tebow wasn’t healthy enough to run Wildcat plays.

Ryan said that as the week progressed, “I felt good about getting Tim in that spot.

“If he’s healthy, where I think he’s healthy, then he would have that role,” he added.

Ryan told ESPN Radio that he had hoped to put Tebow into the game in the QB’s Jacksonville homecoming if it had turned into a blowout, although that did not materialize. Ryan said he would have just called running plays in that circumstance and would not have had Tebow throw the ball.

The coach also compared Tebow to 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, although he pointed out that Tebow has “got more wins that Kaepernick.”

That’s probably little consolation to the Jets’ backup QB, whose season has been largely unsuccessful. Asked on the radio interview if he believes Tebow is disappointed with this season, Ryan admitted, “That’s probably a true statement.”

In part, a guy who played so little, played such a major role in the controversy and ultimately unsuccessful 2012 NY JETS season.

You wonder what really went down in the deal for Tebow

Pretty pathetic. What's even more pathetic is that Intchez is still our starter.

You wonder if the JETS had focused more on his development how much further along Sanchez would be. We will never know. He will never be successful in NY. They should have McElroy in there as starter. Sanchez is terrible right now and has the look of a losing QB. Bad make up for a NY athlete. Combination of mismanaging Sanchez and his own short-comings that have the JETS in a bad place at QB

Two draft picks, the drama that the Tebow trade brought, and the affect on Sanchez all for a handful of running plays into the line.

Its like the JETS had no plan or foresight..............

Sad place

The whole situation is pathetic. And it's abundantly clear that the management of this team made certain decisions that had absolutely nothing to do with winning games.

Two draft picks for a FB plus the looming affect that Tebow brings to now hang over McElroy?

Just like Boomer Esiason said months ago, "cut Tebow."

You wonder what type of season they would have had without the ridiculous amount of detrimental attention it brought.....

Idk about the fullback thing. As long as he would be used as mainly a blocking FB and wouldn't actually get carries, I suppose that MIGHT be ok. I'm perfectly fine with Hilliard at FB, though.

Best thing for both sides is to just let Tebow go after the season. He's not going anywhere with us and we're not going anywhere with him. So, why hurt his career even more and bring needless media attention......oh wait, that's exactly why Woody wants him here.

What is even more pathetic is that this outcome was pretty much predicted by most sane people. Yet, the Jets somehow thought they were smarter than everyone else and opted for the publicity. I guess you can say it worked out in that regard.

Best decision. Also won't happen, because it's the best decision.

Seriously?

Tebow, failure though hsi aquisition clearly is, is literally the LEAST meaningful factor in this seasons downfall.

Want to lay blame, start with the utterly failure that is Mark Sanchez. if all it took was having Tebow on the roster to make him continue to fail, he never belonged int he #1 spot in the first place.

It's important to point out thet theory of the Tebow Trade supporters was never, in fact, tired.

We never played Tebow nearly enough or gave him the ball enough, we used the Wildcat less than any year in recent memory despite having an O-Co who ran the **** out of it in Miami, and totally dropped the ball on designing anything like an offense system/scheme that could make use of Tebow's obvious talents while supporting the failure that is Mark Sanchez.

The failure to actually use Tebow at all, even in teh face of a clearly failing Sanchez, is the best evidence available that the Tebow aquisition was not supported by Rex or Sparano, and was instead pushed on them by either Tanny or Woody ro some combination of the two.

That is my point. This was not a "football move", as many of us had said from day one. So the fact that this whole situation turned out the way that it did should come as no surprise, but rather it was the predictable outcome. This has nothing to do with Tim, he is not to blame at all in this.

If the Jets were really concerned with finding a legit back up and someone to perhaps groom should Mark regress, they should have drafted a kid this year. The Broncos signed Manning AND spent a second round pick on Ossweiler, the Redskins gave up a fortune to draft RGIII and still drafted Cousins in the 4th round, the Seahawks signed Flynn to decent money and still drafted Wilson in the third round, the Eagles had a 100 million dollar QB in Vick and drafted Foles in the 3rd round. Now ask yourself if Sanchez had as many question marks about him as those other QBs who were in place (Manning, RGIII, Flynn, Vick ) that teams drafted back ups for.

Absolutely. If Rex wanted Tebow here, he would have replaced Sanchez a long time ago.

Tanny and/or Woody are more to blame for the failure that is this season than anyone else. Rex has to stick with a struggling QB because he can't replace him with the guy he wants. His hands are tied.

Even the whole "we dressed Tebow to play in garbage time" screams of a decision forced upon him by people above who care more about P.R. than winning football. No head coach thinks about pleasing the fans of the opposing team. It's his job to ruin their day.

The fact that Rex finally benched Sanchez when Tebow was out spoke volumes.

I had my doubts as to the "Woody asked for it" claims at the time, but the evidence does appear to be rather clear.

With that said, I maintain that Tebow is 99% media hype, and 1% problem for the 2012 Jets. We are not 6-7 because of Tim Tebow in any meaningful way IMO. We would have been better (given Sanchez) if we'd used him more, not less.

Drew Stanton #2 instead of Tim Tebow #2 does not change where we are today.

What exactly are Tebow's obvious talents to play QB in the NFL?

Soprano ran the wildcat with Ronnie Brown who before he was hurt had obvious NFL 1st round talent along with Ricky Williams in the backfield.

The Jets O going in to the offseason was a mess. New WR, a new system a new blocking scheme and you and others wanted to install all that plus a wildcat for Tebow's obvious NFL talents that nobody in the league with obvious NFL chops wanted on their roster.
