In (D1) college, this happens all of the time. You exchange gear with other teams the week you play them. I'm sure some of this goes on for the pros too. A lot of players don't feel comfortable wearing their own gear and "advertising" the obvious. A lot of them like to wear gear from other people. I wouldn't be too upset over this. It happens.

dont waste your time. haters gonna hate. amazing the jets have the best defensive player in the nfl and some find a way to bash and criticize over a damn hat.

I don't know. My only experience is with D1 college football. My brother played for a major college (top 20 most years) and they would exchange gear. Hats, sweats, etc. The last thing my brother would be caught out in would be his own college gear when he went to the bars. It's not that he didn't have pride, he lived it though and didn't want to feel like a walking advertisement for himself. He used to exchange his gear with other players or give it to us (the family). He'd wear hats from other teams he played... it was pretty common. Lots of them did it. I'm sure it happens in the pros too.
