BB has the 2nd youngest defense in the NFL and they lead the entire league in forced turnovers. Yea, BB has no clue what to do on the defensive side of the ball.

Pats defense has gotten better and better this year, no doubt. Definitely better than last year's defense. They get a lot of unnecessary hate. That being said, their defense is largely a product of their offensive juggernaut. Playing defense when you're up 24-7 isn't that hard. Save for a few opponents, nearly every opposing offense is playing in panic mode when down three scores. |

To further my point, the Pats have had 7 blowout games this year (lopsided final scores or built an insurmountable lead a la the Broncos game) and 6 non-blowout games.
Points allowed in blowouts: 13, 28, 21, 7, 24, 19, 14. Average: 18 pts/gm Points allowed in contested games or losses: 20, 31, 24, 26, 31, 16. Average: 24.7 pts/gm |

The fact that he hasn't won in several years despite having the best QB of this generation is the best example of that. As well as those defensive rankings... |

It is more impotent as how we are getting these sacks. We aren't just using out OLB for pressure anymore. Our MLBs and CBs have seen a lot more blit packages. I guess Rex figures if his OLB can't blitz and his ILB can't cover reverse the roles.

Maybe someday people will understand that the NFL playoffs is ridiculously high variance and that winning Super Bowls, even with Hall of Fame QBs, is really, really hard.

Not even sure why he advances the argument of them being young as a good thing. Most of the guys the Pats have drafted on D lately have busted anyway. Young and bad is still bad.

Almost too high variance of late. Hate seeing mediocre regular season teams like the Giants take home the crown. NFL regular season is supposed to be the most meaningful in sports because it is only 16 games. When teams like the Giants win, it takes away from that. Not good for the sport. Say what you will about the NBA, but the best team always seems to win.

9 out of 11 years he's won the division. His only losing season as a Pats* coach was 2000, his first year. |

Draft a corner, slowly phase him in, Jones and Hightower will be better next year. Next year you will be, but you will have an early exit from the playoffs this year. |

But yes... Unfortunately they missed badly and Tannenbaum should be the fall guy for it. He has the final say regarding personnel (although Rex absolutely had input) so he has to take the majority of the blame. |

I think he is no different to a group of guys like Andy Reid, Jeff Fisher, Ken Whisenhunt. The only difference is he got lucky with a once in a lifetime QB. The coaches who truly should amaze people are the likes of Jim Harbaugh. Had a bleh QB last year and should have been in the super bowl. Same with Rex the two previous years. And that is what made Parcells so great... Didn't always have a great QB, but still managed to make it extremely far. |

If you really want to compare coaches, ask yourself if Belichick could have done better than Rex in his '09-'10 years. And then if Rex could have done better with the Pats in the last few years. I guess you can assume he has a Pats' offensive coordinator, bc he wouldn't have known what the hell to do with Brady. |
