That would be the worst thing that could happen to the Jets. Make the playoffs, get ousted and wind up with a pick in the 20's.
If the Jets can somehow back into the playoffs again as the 6th seed, they will play the Pats in Foxboro on Wild Card weekend since the Pats blew the #2 seed last night.

Who thought the Giants could compete last season when they made it in as a Wildcard? Once the playoffs start it's a whole new season. So yeah, I think the Jets have a shot because they have a tough defense and Braylon might give them someone to stretch the field again. Anything is possible once you make the playoffs.

The Broncos could still take the #1 Seed if they win out and the Texans lose out. We've got to pull for the Texans to lose to Minnesota next week so they'll have something to play for against the Colts in Week 17. We've also got to pull for KC to beat the Colts next sunday too.

I'm not saying the Jets are good, but the only way the Jets are making the playoffs is by going 9-7. It's quite a stretch to say a team "backed in" by winning their last 5 games.

Anytime you need others teams to lose, that is backing in.

If the Jets controlled their own destiny and made the playoffs winning 5 straight, it's a different story.

It would be worse to lose to a team that backed into the playoffs

Wrong.

The overuse of the phrase "backed into the playoffs" is crazy. People say the Jets "backed into" the playoffs in 2009. No. They won their last 2 games to make it in.

Backing into the playoffs means:

You LOSE your last game(s) and still somehow make the playoffs. For example, you need to either win your last game, or have team X lose. You lose, but then team X loses...you backed into the playoffs.

The Jets winning out could be the worst thing this franchise could do. Didn't wade thru the previous hundreds of posts but I'm guessing alot of Jet fans agree.

1. Getting into playoffs ruins their draft position . Jets need infusion of talent. The higher the draft pick the better.

2. Stuck with Tanny again.

3. Stuck with a coach who coddles players.

4. Stuck with Sanchez. (see #3)

5. Jets will be on stage to get humiliated again on national tv. They are not a playoff caliber team.

I just realized something. I hope they win out !

So they beat two teams with their starters, including Peyton Manning, on the bench?

That's not backing in?

Giants went 1-2 in their last 3 games in 07 and went to the Bowl and beat a team that was undefeated.. At least last year they went 9-7 and went 2-1 in their last 3 games and beat a team that went 13-3 in the Bowl..

Not necessarily the case.
Obviously the jets need to win out. But they can be the 5th seed and play the ravens if the colts lose out, and the Bengals beat the steelers, and the ravens beat the Bengals in week 17

Good try

That was the best the Pats had

and they were lucky to even hang around with SF playing prevent zone

Pats now have to go on road for playoffs

Brady career almost over

Beautiful

Are you really that naive or just plain dumb?

Pats had 10 turnovers through week 14 and had 5 turnovers last night.

Not to mention 5 dropped passes and no Gronk.

Worry about your own team once again trying to back into the playoffs.

Would much rather face the Pats than the Texans or Broncos. Pats still have no defense and no running game. If you can find a way to get to Brady early, the Pats fall apart like they have in all of their recent playoff stumbles.

Familiarity is the reason to want the Pats. We know what they do. But they can run the ball, you serious with that comment? You'd be hawking Ridley for the Pro Bowl if he were on the Jets

Yes it was. It short circuited the "other" radio signal in Brady's helmet.

LOL, Pat's cheating jokes never get old. It's not surprising that they haven't won a Super Bowl since they were busted.

Define "back in the playoffs". I don't think winning out and getting in is backing in. And if the Jets are to get in, they have to win out.
