I know of couple of people who have had dogs snatched by eagles - I had to chase off a red-tailed hawk that was swooping down on a kitten of ours.

That is going to be a great story for that kid to tell when he gets older. And he has proof. We have some hawks over here but that is about it. |

There are many red tailed hawks in my neck of the woods, and they say even some golden eagles around. Haven't seen the eagles, but the hawks are beautiful birds. I actually saw hawk coitus one day while hanging out with my son at the playground.
I was at a farm two summers ago, and the guy was raising pigs. I asked him why the pig pen has fencing over the top of the pig fence. He said hawks have swooped in and picked up the piglets, so they had to fence in the top. |
